Lost Connection Ability

I use a MacBook Pro for nonprofit work.
Will not connect to server for either Safari or MacMail now.
However I can connect to the internet using Firefox.

Could really use input to correct this. I need this laptop up and fully functional.
Any thoughts on why I can connect online one way and not the other?

Problem resolved.
I was a proxy issue.
