Recently my MBP stopped working and i have now got a new one. As far as i'm concerned i've lost all the files on it. However am i able to restore my old library on my new laptop. My iPhone is synced to the old library and i know i am able to recover music i've downloaded from the iTunes store. Is there any way of recovering the remainder of the library??

Are the files still on the MBP? If you got a new HDD and didn't backup prior to the swap out, then they are probably gone. If you have a TM backup they are easy to recover though.

Yeah they're still on the laptop, when i turn it on the screen doesn't light up or chime. I can hear the hard drive spinning though. And no back ups ):

It might be possible to remove that HDD and put it into a USB caddy....if you can see the files then, you should be able to access and retrieve them...USB caddy's are cheap so it's worth a shot.
