So I bought SL yesterday, I wasnt going to, but I did against my better instincts.
I went home and repaired disc permissions, but being tired, hungry and impatient after a long day I went ahead and started the update without backing up. After the it was done I got a message saying that SL could not be installed on my system, and to contact Apple. I restarted, and the SL disc ejected, and after restart I got the flashing question mark.
After several more tries I finally got SL installed, but lost my iphoto library and my itunes library. Both of these were mostly backed up, but I did lose some things from both libraries.
The weird thing is several programs that I had installed myself remaind on the HD, Epson scan, and something called silverfast which is some kind of scanning software.
I still have a macmini to update and an imac to update, both of which contain valuable files.
First question is why did some things remain on my MBP and other things disapear?
Second question is are time machine backups sufficient when I go to update my other machines?
thanks
