Ipad was stolen. Should I go into iClouds and remove the device and mark stolen ? If I do that, would that delete my photos that have been backed up already in iClouds? Stupid question I know, just wanna make sure.

I want to prevent the new owners, from deleting the pics and affecting my iCloud backups etc.

No. It just wipes the device and sets the activation lock.

    Definitely this ^^^^^
Turn it into a brick for whoever stole it.

Have you tried using the locator?

If it is a cellular model, you can also have the IMEI number blacklisted.
