So about a month ago my MacBook Air died and I had to get the SSD replaced. Unfortunately, I didn't really make a backup of most things on it so I lost most of my files.

Does anyone know of any free software or software recommendations on how to extract the photos/music off my current iPhone onto my new Mac?

now i see it

If you sync the iPhone to the Mac, all your media files will get copied to the Mac. Do it through the Finder sidebar. Plug your iPhone into the Mac and you’ll see the iPhone pop up in the finder sidebar.

I don’t think that applies to anything but songs purchased on iTunes Music Store on iPhone. For ripped media like cds it’s a one way street from computer to phone.

You can try Senuti if that still exists or the iMazing client.

and yeah a lot of the files were songs were remixes/beats by some friends and are more for nostalgia if anything.

Hi, I’m in the same situation you were in. Which website did you use to transfer your music?

Finder/iTunes sync will sync any music regardless of whether it has been purchased from iTunes or songs that has been copied from CDs. My music library has both kinds and has worked that way for about 10 or more years.

What I meant to say was that iTunes doesn’t take MP3 files that are solely on your iPhone and import them into your iTunes library on the computer. It’s a one way street where your ripped MP3 files get copied from the computer to the phone but the other direction only applies to purchases. It has been that way ever since the iPod and I’d be surprised if that suddenly changed.

My bad. I re-read the OP that you responded to and I glossed over the part about sync files from the phone to the computer. Sorry about that.
