lost outbox, mystified

MBP Snowleopard. Mail.app with exchange server on the other side.

All working, except. I have lost my outbox.
So, I googled around and found the instructions to mess with the plist to fix this.

was just about to try that, but it is for Tiger, is this a good solution? OR, do I risk messing up my mail? Anyone have an idea that does not involve terminal

Also, when I go to Mailbox>go to> outbox -- that option, (and Junk) is greyed out
