Lost resolutions on 4k monitor after upgrading to ventura

Greetings and salutations to the greatest forum for all things apple :)

Last night I upgraded to Ventura, waiting for the final release 🥳. But something happened to the supported resolutions with one of my monitors.

The set up is kinda simple I think. USB Hub and Monitor. But the resolution that I use is 2560x1440(2x) at 60hz and now it seems that it's gone 🫠 😶‍🌫️. I've been working with this setup for a couple of years. From Big Sur, then Monterey and after upgrading to Ventura that resolution is gone. I have EasyRes and nothing there either. 😢

I have a LG 4k Monitor (LG-27UL500) that is connected through a USB-C hub that support 4k at 60hz (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NVW9DM2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and the mac is an M1 Macbook Air.

Does anyone know how to solve this? or have the same issue? or is there another post talking about this?

I have exactly the same issue on my Philips PHL 288E2 4K monitor when I upgraded to macOS Ventura. 2560×1440 HiDPI @ 60Hz cannot be detected/enabled anymore even when using BetterDisplay or one-key-hidpi. Any solutions to this or temporary fix?

Really strange, how are you getting those list of resolution? This is what I have on my M1 Pro, display is super sharp on my 32" 4K.

After upgrading to Ventura from Monterey, I've got exactly the same issue. Same monitor (LG 27UL500) with macbook pro M1.

Same for me on a Dell U2723QE. Seems to be quite a few people having display issues but no solutions as yet. Regret upgrading so soon now.

Solved mine by buying a better hub. The caldigit hub hasn’t shown the issue.

I had the issue while on the last beta and it was driving me nuts.

Thank you! Unfortunately its sold out. Do you think the original Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter would work as well?

No idea as I didn’t test it not having one.

The UK link in amazon doesn’t show sold out for me. Put the model in the search bar and see if any other amazon vendors have it.

To make it even more confusing... i have a multi-display setup (2x same 4K 27" Philips 276E) connected via a Echo 11 TB4 dock (2x TB->HDMI). The display that is set as main display still has the scalability options un der Ventura whilst the 2nd, extended, display only shows the low resolution options referred to above (under Monterey they both had scalability options (2x 1440p)). Reconnecting the 2nd, extended, display from the hub to a TB4-port on my Macbook Pro M1 Max (2021) enables the scalability options again... Hence, it seems to be interference between Ventura and the hub causing the issue. Sincerely hope that this is resolved quickly.

So, apparently there is something in Ventura that doesn't like the combination from my adapter and the LG monitor (LG-27UL500). Took the adapter home and connected to a 32" 4k Westinghouse monitor and everything just worked fine. Sooo... came back to the office and brought with me a USB-C - DisplayPort cable and the LG is working just fine. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't know that this was a bug reported in previous betas. So I hope these dudes fix it 🤞

I have the Mac mini with the new M1. It is connected to the Samsung G9 Odyssey 5K 240 refresh rate. I just upgraded to Ventura and now it says my display is LC49G95T @ 3840x1080. I am plugged in from the back of the M1 directly to the monitor. WTF! I can't even get 5K (5820x1880) options now :(. Any recs?

Using a different USB-C to HDMI adapter (UGreen) instead of a hub fixed this issue. Seems like the Acasis 10Gbps USB-C hub is having problems with Ventura preventing the 2560×1440 HiDPI resolution. Never encountered this problem before in Monterey. Hope they fix this in the next update.

I have a Dell U2720Q. my 16" MBP M1 Pro is conntected to a Dell TB3 dock. I'm using a C2G USB-C to HDMI cable to connect to the monitor. The cable supports 4K 60Hz.

It works fine after upgrade to Ventura.

You may want to try to use a different (better) cable.

Thanks, yes, trying another cable was going to be my next step but everything was working fine under Monterey, so I don't see why the cable wouldn't suddenly be insufficient to support high resolutions at 60hz though. Will try though...

Ventura is definitely buggy for sure. Loads of people reported similar issues. Before Apple churns out a fix, the only way is either downgrade back to monterey, or find a solution on our own.

I did a TM backup right before upgrade and was anticipating some broken changes. But so far, it's more or less similar with my simple dev work flow.

Having the same issue.

Anyone know of a reasonably priced hub which includes audio input?

Had no issues previously so don't really want to spend too much on correcting this...
