Lost software need to reinstall

Hi daughters iMac has decided to dump all the info and software
Tried to reload through iTunes but says temp unavailable ??
How do I go about re installing software and starting afresh ??
No worried about data lost as she backed up all her work on external hard drive
Any help would be great

Maybe try an "Internet Install".
