I've been experiencing crashes when using iMovie '09, as well as most of the applications I use on a daily basis. My Finder has been crashing a lot as well after I installed iLife. This occurs a couple of times a day, and the error reports give the exception codes "KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at ... " and other variants of that. What is causing this? How can I fix it?

This is another portion of an example report, this just happened:
Process: GarageBand [842]
Path: /Applications/GarageBand.app/Contents/MacOS/GarageBand
Identifier: com.apple.garageband
Version: 5.0.1 (358)
Build Info: GarageBand_App-3580000~8
Code Type: X86 (Native)
Parent Process: launchd [94]

Date/Time: 2009-03-02 20:41:28.843 -0500
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G55)
Report Version: 6

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread: 13

and this is my system config

Model: MacBook3,1, BootROM MB31.008E.B02, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz, 1 GB
Graphics: kHW_IntelGMA965Item, GMA X3100, spdisplays_builtin, 144 MB
Memory Module: BANK 0/DIMM0, 512 MB, DDR2 SDRAM, 667 MHz
Memory Module: BANK 1/DIMM1, 512 MB, DDR2 SDRAM, 667 MHz

I feel like some crashes are due to the fact that I need more memory but I don't know about all the others.

Thanks in advance

To update the thread, I am still having lots of crashes but I searched other forums and they said that for Finder crashes, to reset Finder settings, but I don't know how to do that.

Should I uninstall all iLife '09 programs and install them again? I'm really going crazy here because this is really messing up my computer. I never thought I would have these problems with a Mac.

Resetting Finder's settings is as straightforward as going to (home)/Library/Preferences, locating the Finder.plist, trashing it, then relaunching Finder or restarting the computer.

Anyone else having problems with iLife 09? I'm hesitating to upgrade, given the rough patches I've seen with iWork 09...
