Anyone else seeing this? Sometimes when I initiate a spotlight search, not only is the animation periodically jittery but my search terms don't show anything. I close out of the search and swipe down again and only THEN did the search work. Usually the slowness is in the animation on the home screen and with search so far. Anyone else seeing these types of issues?

I don't really use Spotlight, but I've noticed on my iPad Mini 2 that there are occasional delays in things like opening apps, even if the app is already loaded into the memory (going from the home screen to an app that was just used). It may be a similar thing... hopefully future updates will fix those delays.

I noticed the annoying lag after I upgraded my first iPM4, it happened mostly when visiting any website or typing.
I ended up returning that one for another reason (I wanted the higher 128GB one) which has iOS9.0.0. I noticed a little lag when I first turned it on but after a few days it disappeared. I haven't found any more lag or issues apart from some mistakes while typing due to the smaller keyboard I'm not used to yet. lol.
I wish reverting iOS updates were easily done, but hopefully iOS9.1 will fix the lag and animation issues.

Kal.

I've noticed slight lag at times on my Mini 4 in the app switcher and search. Nothing major. One thing I would suggest if it's bothering you is to go into settings an manually choose which apps are included in the spotlight search. In my case there were a lot that I would never actually need it to search through, and I think that indexing their files adds to the lag. Turning off Siri suggestions all together made all noticeable lag in search go away for me.

Really, with 2 GB of RAM and a 64-bit processor, I don't see why there should be any lag in the UI at all.

Okay so I guess I'll cross my fingers until 9.1... iPhone does seem more responsive but now that I've set everything up the way I want it, I don't want to start from scratch YET again.

Pulling down to activate Spotlight has caused animation stuttering for quite some time now. I noticed it even back on my 6 and 6 Plus and generally it would happen on the first attempt and then be completely smooth after; until I let it rest for a while and then the same thing would occur.

I've turned off Spotlight suggestion since I've never really used it but on the rare occasion I have activated it, I've seen no stutter presumably since it doesn't need to load anything in advance. Also never ran into the no results bug so I can't say I'm of much help here...

I'm seeing major lag/stutter with third party keyboards like Swype and others to show on my iPad mini2 running 9.0.2. The lag is especially there with Spotlight search (the swipe down one) if it even shows. Swype already released multiple app updates since iOS9 but this hasn't been resolved by those updates so i'm wondering if it isn't iOS9 related. It worked so great on iOS8.3 and 8.4. Unfortunately my 5s iPhone running 9.1 beta 5 also still has lag with Spotlight search with third party keyboard but at least it shows.

I'm still on 9.0.1 and not seeing any of the lag described above or other, fwiw.

Are you talking about a third party keyboard or Apple's own keyboard. There wasn't any lag with Apple's keyboard.

Unfortunately the lag with showing a third party keyboard such as Swype or Path Input for iPad is still there with yesterday release of iOS9.1. Swype released already quite a few iOS9 updates but didn't help so far. The lag is especially visible with my iPad mini2 running 9.1 and also a bit with iPhone 5s it's especially visible with the Spotlight search (scroll down). I sure hope they will get this fixed. In some cases the keyboard doesn't even show on Spotlight and jumps back to Apple's own keyboard while in other apps i do get the Swype keyboard. Very odd behaviour.

iOS9.1 is an improvement but not for the third party keyboards. It was working so good in iOS 8.3/8.4.
I wish Apple would come up with a swiping/slide feature for their own keyboard one day.
