Loud CD drive

I have a 07 silver iMac and the CD drive is loud. I don't use it much, but when i tried to import CD to itunes it started making a surprisingly loud noise. I'm not sure whether this is normal or how loud it should be. Are they normally quite loud or is mine faulty?

as long as it works fine i wouldn't worry about it, these drives can be very loud
