Hey all,
My 2011 15" Macbook pro's (5400rpm) hard drive is very loud!!
Just wondering if i'm just being to fussy or i should take it into apple.
If they say it's normal should i get a new hard drive put into it?
If so which hard drive would everyone recommend is the quietest!?

Thank you! 🙂

Well, what are you hearing from it? Clicking, screeching? If so then take it back. However, all hard drives are audible to an extent but most 5400 rpm ones don't go above 30 dB unless they're 1TB and over.

I don't really hear any clocking or screeching at first i thought it was the fans! It just sounds like air!

That's just how it sounds, unfortunately. You'll find no completely silent hard drive but if it bothers you that much look for a slow, low capacity one or consider an SSD (which would run completely silent).
