i have an iPad 4 which is in fantastic condition, I can't even tell it's old tbh. Anyway, I never had this occur before but I was listening to some music and suddenly this super loud screeching sound started coming out of my speakers. I was caught off guard by how loud it is, and had to turn off the app. I thought it was the app. I opened Spotify to try it out and the same happened. I opened Safari to Google it and it started again even though there was no source of audio on safari. i restarted and reseted my settings and it's all okay now. I'd like to know what that was though, I don't want to leave my iPad at home when I'm out and have that thing go off until it explodes or something. Anyone know what's wrong?

I'm no computer whiz, but it seems to me the noise has to be either (1) something mechanical coming from inside the device, or (2) the by-product of non-mechanical software being blared out of the speakers.

If the noise stops when you turn off sound, it's definitely a software glitch rather than something inside in the hardware busted.

If the noise continues when even if you turn the sound all the way down, it's a product of something in the hardware on the fritz (which seems unlikely--iPads don't have all that many movable parts inside.) I suspect there was just a glitch in one of your music-playing programs that temporarily was spitting out noise, in which case shutting down the music-playing program and restarting it should fix the problem. If the music file itself has been corrupted, you might have to restore that song off iTunes or re-download it.
