I thought it was a bunch of crap, until it happened to me.
For the record though I wouldn't say "first sight" but I would say knowing in an extraordinarily quick amount of time. (in my case I'm talking weeks)

Weeks, or even minutes, I can understand. Instantaneous? No way. That's something else.

I think I'm in the 'skeptical' group. Surely it would only be physical attraction at first, but then I never saw it the way Lau mentioned. 😱
In this case then, I guess I couldn't say really since I've never been in that position before. 😉

though it's me so be prepared for a story 😀 ... bear with me too!
Back in secondary school I had a dream, I met a girl with long brown hair at an educational gathering place (college, uni, wasn't specific. just kids with bags and no uniforms so it wasn't school). I followed her around for 3 days, then she followed me for 3 more. There was a huge fountain in the background *shrugs* of the area. I told an ex-girlfriend and she said "James, was the girl me?". I laughed and said no 😀 I wasn't even planning on going to college at this point.
A year or so later and I decide to go to college after all. My first day there... Who should I see? A perfect representation of her from my dreams. Sat infront. We made our way through into the computer room to sort out the course paper work.
I sat at the back, she sat next to me. Heart was pounding. I asked her if she had a pen.
6 days later my dad was offered a job in Ireland so we flew out for a week to look into property and everything there. I missed her badly. But we really stuck with each other when I got back. Everyone knew we were going to end up together, 2 months later I asked her out and we've been together for 4 and a half years now 🙂 we just got on so perfectly, she's my best friend. We've been through so much too, and I've given up so much to be with her (she's catholic. work it out 😀 ). Whenever I see her I get the whole lust thing, but the Love has always been there even when we're apart (which is most of the time at the moment). I can't imagine being with any other girl.

No. Real love requires knowing the person - you can certainly be immediately attracted to a person, even very strongly attracted - and not necessarily in an overtly sexual manner, but actual love requires knowing the person.
