I pre-ordered it on the first day and listened to everyone complain about how it was under powered and how terrible having one port would be... blah blah blah... But, I have used this computer everyday since I received it and I can say it is probably the best laptop I have used.

Now, let me clarify, I use it for email, web browsing, writing Pages/Number documents, and watching videos. For these things, it is flawless. The startup time from sleep to online is almost instant. Day to day functionality is plenty fast with the 1.2ghz standard configuration. I love the keyboard and the battery life is outstanding. Plus, the compact size and light weight makes it very portable - much more than my 7lb 15" MBP. I see people carrying iPads that have a bluetooth keyboard case that are much bigger and heavier than this!!

So, I think Apple did what they set out to do with this laptop. It is not intended to be a high power processing computer for crunching video editing or other processor intensive work. For those things, buy a Macbook Pro or Mac Pro. And if your complaint is about the price, consider that the iPad Pro and iPhone 6s+ are both almost $1000 and this doesn't seem to expensive in comparison.

Now, everyone else... carry on with your complaining, I'm going to enjoy my fabulous Macbook!

Nice to hear that there are others that feel the same as I do. I really liked the Macbook from the start to be brutally honest. Coming from a Macbook Pro 2014 13," I felt i needed more juice so i had upgraded to the beast that is the ASUS G750JZ, which had the performance profile that I had been looking for, but weighed nearly 10Lb in my backpack.

That made me lust for something that was silent, quick, and looked aesthetically pleasing. The Macbook fit that bill.

Yeah, I'm a writer/student and it's the best computer I've ever owned (supplanting the MBA). I don't do any photo or video editing (Scrivener is the fanciest program I use) and so performance isn't an issue. The screen and the size are the standouts for me, though. Love it.

I went through a bunch of setups to find one that worked for. I had a 13.3 pro retina and a 15.4. Once this 12' Retina macbook came out I pre ordered and used a 10% coupon from best buy. I love the machine. It is perfect for my class work and just general computing uses while at home. I even use it for steam stream from my windows gaming machine.

I find that when i am not in school I don't use it as much but when I need it is so easy to throw in my bag. Much easier than trying to use an iPad and keyboard.

The rMB only needs official 4K@60Hz support for me to buy it in a heartbeat.
I tried the current one, it's quite good, not perfect, but that's the feature I lack the most.

I can't wait to see if the Skylake revision will bring Thunderbolt 3 support!
