I can't see why others don't agree

Function over form. If all you care about is getting your online shopping done or writing up a Word document, it's quite easy to overlook the inferiority of the screen.

And, whenever the screen reminds you that it's inferior, you can remind yourself that you got an awesome brand new Apple Macbook for $699.99 :)

I think the MBA is a great laptop, but once you see what a retina screen looks like, it's really tough to go back to a pretty pixelated screen. I realize some people simply do not see the difference, or consider it to be a minor improvement, but to me it's like night and day and I can't see why others don't agree :>
This is a pretty amusing post considering the new class-action lawsuit that was filed regarding the new keyboards that are in rMB and MBPs. The newer Macbooks, retina and Pro alike have been experiencing a lot of hardware issues, none of which the MBA experiences. Hardware quality has a value for fans of the MBA.

Also, referring to the MBA's screen as "pretty pixelated" is a bit of hyperbole that doesn't match reality. My 11" MBA has a ppi of 135 which is within the ballpark of most Windows-based notebooks (106-165ppi).

Couldn't agree more with this statement. If I were going to shell out that kind of money to have the new rMBP or MB I would expect the quality of those computers to be top notch. Keyboards are used all the time and reliability is very important. There are too many "quality control" issues associated with the newer gen Apple laptops which I do not find appealing which is why I tend to favor the MBA line... I also happen to like having a magsafe connector for power and additional ports which the newer gen laptops do not have. One or two USB-C ports just don't cut it for me...

I picked up the 2017 MBA 13/i7/8GB/512 in February of 2018. I ditched Mac a couple of years ago and have landed back on them. My rMBP that I gave up had a beautiful screen. Going back in, I was needing to be economical yet having basic specs covered. The i7/8GB/512 hit that spot. My concern was the ability for the MBA to handle Logic Pro X.....and it does so with no issue at all. I don't do alot of video, so iMovie works great.

I did start having battery issues with the addition of the Chrome browser...5 hours a day max...so once I ditched it for Safari...and reset the SMB/PRAM, I'm back to my 10-12 hours a day.

MBA17 for the win. I am curious if we will see a refresh, but at this point it will have to be so AMAZING for me to switch off my MBA17.

Just ordered a new MBA 13" i7 2.2GHz, 8Gb RAM, 256GB SSD storage, and I also ordered Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard.
I think I will run Kubuntu Beaver in VMware, and maybe win 7 in bootcamp, and then my samsung A3 hooked to KDE. What do you think?
MBA is the only laptop I know about since 2010, but the other apple stuff I don´t care so much about nowadays.
