How about using it as a watch?? Ever think of that?? The added other features are just a perk...I never wore a watch daily, but find myself wanting to wear one more now using Apple Watch.

Some things I use daily--

1. View/Dismiss/Delete Emails and text---This has been extremely useful for me....Dont pick up phone near as much

2. Music on my watch. This weekend use my wireless beats along with music on my watch. Doesn't get much more portable. No lugging iphone to work in the yard

3. Apple Pay--at Subway while my phone at my desk.

4. Used watch to put appointments in my Calendar

5. Checked my pulse

6. Checked weather for the week

7. Quickly responded to text

8. Used Fandango at movie for tickets

9. Used to pay at Starbucks

10. Oh yeah used to tell Time lol

List goes on an on---Curious to find out how old users are who state Im thinking on returning. Know what the watch is and what it can do...Realize that and will be leaps ahead. Its not suppose to replace the phone nor would I want it too. Who wants to surf the internet on a watch, However, not having to pull my phone out for the simple things as stated above makes a huge difference

I just want a watch that I can use for running and cycling. Of course giving me the time as well. Message notification and iPod function are bonuses. Of course seeing posts like this have me thinking a sport model would be best for me.

Personally, I have no need for killer third party apps. I'm not using the watch as an app platform. The phone is far superior for that.

The thing I love about the watch is that it's like a heads-up display for my iPhone. Email comes in - 1 second glance to see if it's important or if it can wait. Text message comes in- 1 second glance to see if it's from my wife or again, if it can wait. App notification, like Dark Sky, telling me it's going to rain, Amazon, telling me my package is arriving or reminders telling me it's time to do something (very handy at work, may I say).

This is the killer "app" for me. I actually use my phone less. And that is the intended purpose of the app.

There's other things, of course, but these are the main ones.

Oh, and for lists on the watch, either Evernote or OneNote are great for that.

I completely agree!

As for Sports or SS I would think about the look going for along with pocket book --For me I didnt care for the look of the sport to wear on daily basis. IMO it looked more like a swatch watch. The stainless just looked better IMO with more band options. For running and cycling a sports edition wouldn't be bad. All the series do the same thing internally....So decide on your look and go with that.

Apparently I don't know how to use it because it has been more of a hassle than anything else.
Calling? Not useful at all.
Texts? Nice to preview received texts but the replies are basically useless
Calendar? meh.
Maps? Useless novelty on the watch.
Emails? No
Fitness? Terrible for tracking and HR isnt very good.

My main drawbacks:

- I'm on the last hole with the M/L Black Sports band and Apple doesn't offer anything bigger.
- I'm now constantly aware of what is going on with my wrist and protecting it.

Other than that it's cool for what it is.

Ok - the Watch is certainly not something you need (the iPad is not something one needs for that matter).

It is, though, quite a great way to be unobtrusively connected.

As a Watch collector, I first frowned on the idea of strapping a mini computer to my wrist. However after a couple days of daily use, I have really started to like it.

I get all of the calendar, email, and messages notifications I usually get, and I can then choose which ones to respond to. I no longer have to sit there and pull out my phone for every meaningless notification that comes through (and I get a lot).

Lastly, I'm a tad OCD. If my activity rings aren't filled in at the end of the day, I'll go out and make that happen - so if anything, the Apple Watch has helped me be less lazy.

Siri, Weather, Stocks, and News alerts are all added bonuses.

Is the :apple:Watch unnecessary? Yes. Is it pointless? Most certainly not.

I think it's not meant to be used so much actually. It's meant to be used as much as you'd use a time watch, an alarm, a fitness tracker, a notification alerts centre and a remote. It's all those things (and more) in a nice neat package.

If you loved it but now you dont, why go on a forum and ask people what their favorite feature is? It's as if how another person uses their smart watch is going to make you justify you loving your watch or not.

It's a watch!! With some convenient features. It's not intended to replace your iPhone For some it's more useful than others Understanding it's an accessory is the key

I agree with those who said the watch is an entirely different kind of tool and users who are disappointed might not really get that. On the other hand, I'm sure some do get it and genuinely don't have much use for it. But that doesn't mean it's a bad device, it's just not for them.

Since the OP asked, I'll say that it is very useful to me and gets more so the longer I have it. Activity tracking, staying on top of my calendar and to do list (OmniFocus has a great watch app, best third party app I've seen so far), managing messages (both email and text), getting reminders in an unobtrusive way while at work or out and about, quick info like weather and headlines, handy timer for everything from cooking to remembering to move sprinklers on my lawn... None are absolutely essential since I can do them on the phone, but all are more convenient on the watch.

And I really like have one device to do all of that vs wearing a Fitbit, carrying a phone in my pocket, and putting on a separate HR monitor to work out (I had the older Fitbit without one built in). I just put on the Apple watch in the morning and everything is there when I need it. Yes, for many of those uses the phone has to be nearby but it can be down in my briefcase most of the time instead of in my hand.

By the way, I got a call as I was typing this and answered it on my watch. Worked perfectly!

Edited to add: forgot Apple Pay! as cool as paying with my phone is, the watch is simpler

What app do you use to get a grocery list on your watch?

Create a list in the reminders app called "Grocery"

Head to the app store and buy $0.99 "Daily Bread Smart Grocery List" that will sync to the built in reminders app. I personally add list items from my Mac, my MacBook, my iPad and my iPhone and they all end up right where they belong on my watch

https://itunes.apple.com/app/id917256488

Then.. use Siri to say "Add Beer to my grocery list" and it will be there.

This... I also don't find myself searching for "cool" apps to load. I'm sure something will come along, but I don't feel the need as I do with my iPhone 6+. I use it to triage my notifications as well as phone calls (as in deciding to pull out phone or not)

I was actually wondering if this would move me back to an iPad or even iPad pro when available. Most of my consumption has happened with the iPhone 6+ since it's release. Maybe it will become keep phone in pocket, use iPad to consume and Watch to triage.
