I'm one for little details, and I must say, I was VERY impressed with how Apple have shrunk down the size of the UK mains to USB charger, with the 3GS. I thought the previous one was small, but oh MY this is a work of art!!. Natually, these were taken with the 3GS itself:

Yeah, compared to my first iPod adapter (firewire) this one's tiny!

US adapters still win for size, due to our bigger 3-pin standard. Then again, when I was staying in New York, I used to get sparks coming off their two-pin plugs when pushing them into wall sockets!

Here is the new US one plus the previous version.

May I ask, why?

Also, BTW, which do people find more fitting in the US. The old one (2G iPhone) or the new one for iPhone 3G or 3GS?

I like the new plug way better. The older plug was too bulky

why you ask?

because surely it would be better suited in an existing thread about the 3gs.

there are several things about the 3gs that i like but i won't start a thread saying i like the camera, then another thread for the screen, then another for the battery etc.....

lol, trying to be funny aren't we. We have this thread right now, might as well use it for that.

Wow, call me a nerd, but that new UK plug is beautiful. The new US one is wicked too...

Here in Belgium we just get the same one as previously, i.e. the universal adaptor. It's still rather nice compared with the tat you get from other manufacturers, but looks poor by comparison.

Wow so much excitement over this plug wait to you get a load of the new cable coming out

I bet there will be some idiots out there who loose their adaptor and think it's just a plug. Then they try to wire their iPhone directly to the mains with an ordinary 13A Plug.

Just like the "My mag safe set fire" threads in the MacBookPro forum, there will be "My iPhone exploded" threads here :)

well ............. I've only known the small US one and already seen the one in the OP.

I thought the UK one was always like that

well I like what they did with the US adaptor when they did the 3G, and the UK adaptor with the 3GS, dont forget that you are losing the ability to switch plug types (with the larger ones you could buy switchable plugs)

I personally dont travel outside the US, but for those that do (or outside the UK, if thats where you live), instead of buying an add on you have to get a whole new adaptor

so it has its pros and cons

Nerd :)

The spanish one is still exactly the same as the previous ones. Now it's probably the biggest iphone adapter in the world :D

The new UK plug with a continental adapter is still smaller than the old bulky one.

However, I still like my MBP to support interchangeable plug types but it actually needs a large adapter, so no space issues there!

I love the US adapter,
I think I'm gonna move to the States just to be able to ust this wonderful piece of plastic!:D

There's some real grouchy people on here, cheer up you miserable tw*ts. Given all the posts that don't add anything I think this one's more than justified.

IMOP it's a really nice adapter and a big improvement and it's good to see that Apple are moving things on for markets other than the US.

As demonstrated by totally negative and pointless comments such as...

this is a sad thread
