Hey guys,

So, I have an Early 2015 MB Pro with the Retina display. Anyway, I just received the low memory message, however, when I check the storage space, it says that I have 210GB out of 250GB. Any idea what is going on here?

Also, my Safari app decided to just keep opening up after I close it. Any idea(s)?

If you guys can help me out, that would be great.

Thanks!

Memory and storage are different things. 210GB/250GB is storage.

Use Applications-Utilities-Activity Monitor and click on the memory tab, then the "memory" column. This will sort by biggest memory user to lowest, enabling you to easily identify the culprit.

I don't see a "Utilities" icon in the app folder. How would I find it?

How do I keep Safari from re-opening after I close it?

It's in every version of Mac OS that I've every installed. YMMV

The easy way to find/execute an app: Cmd+Space, then type the command, then return
- Cmd+space; Activity Monitor; return

When you say "close it" are you quitting (Safari-Quit Safari) or just closing the window (clicking on the red dot in the upper left)?

I found it, although, I am not sure how to really tell what is using the memory. I have never experienced this before, and the only thing I can think of is the Safari that wants to keep reopening even when I quit it.

I am going to Safari -> Quit. It then closed the application, however, 2 seconds later the safari app bounces and the dot appears underneath it. The actual window doesn't open until I click on the safari app, but the program is still open. Is there anyway to close it?

Looks like other have experienced this. A google search returns quite a few hits.

Looks like malware is the root cause.

It may be you've contracted some sort of malware. The first thing is to try restarting the system, if you haven't already, and see if that fixes it.

You can Force Quit Safari: Apple )in upper left), Force Quit ... and select Safari from the list.

Then, I would would open Safari in Safe Mode: Hold the shift key while clicking on Safari in the App folder.

what kind of program would I want to use to remove said malware if that's it?
