Here are my Specs:

5,1
Radeon VII
2x 5680s
32gb of RAM

I recently installed Windows 10 and am experiencing issues with Diablo 3. For whatever reason the game is performing about as well as it does on MacOS which doesn't seem right. I get a Max of about 85fps while standing still, but moving around will lower it to about 50-60. I have tried a million things within the settings of the game and nothing affects it at all. Lowering or raising the settings does not change the performance at all which, to me, indicates some sort of external issue. I have not done a ton of testing but from the small amount I have, other games seem to work as expected. Not sure if anyone else has had similar experiences and might know what is going on.

edit: I forgot to add another anomaly. The game preformed the same whether I had the AMD drivers installed or not. I have no idea what that means but it is very strange.

Thanks

Hi there,

If you haven't already, try disabling the max foreground framerate cap in the game's settings. I seem to remember D3 having some performance problems related to this (no matter what it was set to).

Hope this helps!

I have but unfortunately that didn't work. It sucks because the symptoms I am having are pretty much exactly the same so it's been incredibly difficult researching this since that's what pretty much every link says. Thanks though!

Is it possible the game is bottlenecked by your CPU, or can't fully utilize the GPU due to the older PCIe speeds from 2010-2012?

I think it's also interesting that you don't see any performance drop with the uninstallation of drivers. Do you still have bootcamp drivers installed? If so, you should probably uninstall those and then reinstall the AMD drivers.

Windows comes with built in Direct3D drivers for AMD cards. Diablo 3 is so old that the built in drivers probably run it just as well as the latest.

It's not unrealistic that the performance could be the same in macOS as it is in Windows. You're likely CPU or PCIe bandwidth bound. Either one of those would effectively cap the performance to about the same in both operating systems.

Dont know if that game uses both processors. But keep in mind, that Windows Home caps usage of both processors. Windows Pro uses both.

Monitor processor load to see.

I just got around to checking cpu load and both the cpu and gpu sit around 35% at all times. But that could just be because the game is only using like a core or something.
