My iPhone 6 battery performs well (about 7/8 hours), but I feel as if low power mode doesn't contribute much, at least to my phone in particular. Any comments from other iPhone users?

Depends on your usage during low power mode. It's more for preserving if you don't plan to use your phone as much while you have it enabled.

It really depends on what settings you normally use to begin with. If you already run your phone with settings turned on or off that Low Power Mode does, then you really won't notice a whole lot of change. (The only thing a user can't manually do that LPM also does is underclock the CPU and GPU.)
