Lower case r won't work on eMac

We have an old eMac but it works pretty well for our daughter's needs. We have a mysterious problem where the lower case 'r' won't work. I thought the keyboard was faulty and bought a new one but have the same problem with that so it's in the system somewhere. The uppercase R works. Any suggestions much appreciated

check the keyboard setting in the international preferences.

I've had a look at international settings. It was on US, I've changed it to British, but it still has the same problem. Is there something else in there I should be looking for that could cause it?

Have you checked that somethig isn't mapped to that key like speech etc;

Try making a new account, and see if it works on that.
