Hey guys :)

got my AW3 today and I already love it.
The only flaw seems to be the Batterylife - Apple promises 18 Hours, but my colleagues @ work say, 1,5 Days should be doable with a moderate flow of notifications etc.

Despite its an OLED Display and i'm using the super simple watchface I was wondering why my Watch keeps getting "woke at rise", when i'm typing on the computer keyboard or even driving my car placing my hand at 12 o'clock at the steering wheel.

Do you guys see those "Problems", or am I just overly sensitive and whose "display shows" for only a few seconds aren't that dramatically? :)

Best wishes

Congrats on you AW3! I just got mine a week ago (LTE). But I also have had two other AWs and, since February, an LG Sport (Android Wear). The LG Sport was what I was using prior to the AW3, and I got it due to LTE (but never really liked that watch...).

I will say battery life, with LTE on, has been better with my AW3 than my prior AWs or my two Android Wear watches.

The raise to wake feature works well for me. Yes, it will trigger from doing ordinary things, like driving. But that is to be expected. The main goal is to leave the display off when you don't need it, yet on when you do. So it's better to be a little sensitive than to not trigger when you need it. My AW3 seems to trigger about the same as my prior AWs, though maybe a hair faster. My LG Sport was slower (I finally got in the habit of waiting a second to see the time), and I had more instances where it did not trigger. That was a pain since if it didn't trigger, that second wait was a waste of time.

Believe me, there will come a time where you go to look at your AW and the display will not trigger. It's not often but it does happen. Indeed I misread the title of this thread to mean a way to make it trigger easier, not harder. Heck I might even go for increasing the sensitivity a bit, now that I am not as concerned about battery life. :) But I would never want to lower the sensitivity.

Thank you for your response, Mike! :)

As you mentioned, I'm mostly concerned about the Battery life.
I'm not generally annoyed what it shows the Watch Face when I type on the Keyboard/while driving - the only point is the: If it goes of that often "unwanted" (like every steering attempt in the car :D) wouldn't that be bad for the battery life.
I was already about to deactivate that "raise to wake" and rely on the "tap to wake" - but I guess I'm a bit to sensitive because its my new Baby :D

Charged it to 100% while showering @ about 8pm, went quiet quickly to 95 when I arrived at my girlfriends place and since then (dunno how, tbh) its right now still @ 95 :D (its almost 2am in germany right now)

I'd say your AW is doing good, battery wise. I too mainly charge it when I jump in the shower and get ready for work in the morning (I wear it while sleeping for sleep and heart rate tracking). Good to hear you didn't turn raise to wake off!

now it jumped to 86% :D
Is it normal, that the battery simplification doesnt update "Live"? :)

With the raise to wake on the Apple Watch, you can have it set at 15 seconds, 70 seconds or you can have a fully disabled. I use tap the display, which I find conserves the battery.

Also, with the Apple Watch, the lithium ion battery isn't necessarily a fast charging battery on the Apple Watch. It's also natural, if it doesn't get used, it will naturally deplete as well.

Agree with other responses, it’s much better to have a false positive than a false negative.
One thing to remember about battery capacity meters, The watch has no way to know how much battery capacity is actually left. All it knows is what has been used and what the estimated capacity of the battery should be. So I would never trust the accuracy to less than 10%.
Also, generally people who talk about getting one and a half days out of the watch will be aren’t using it much. I could get that out of mine, it would mean using it sparingly, especially by not using the workout function.

Try switching to Tap To Wake. I have a series 0 and it saves a ton of battery power. I move my hands around a lot and I found Raise To Wake just wasted a lot of energy throughout the day. Tap To Wake works very well for me.

I remember getting my first AW and I worried about how often the screen was coming on when not needed.

Drove me crazy for a while but got over it.

My AW3 LTE lasts all day and still has a minimum of 60% remaining when I put it on the charger.

Hope you will get sued to it soon and just enjoy you watch.

I need to do this. I've turned off rise to wake to save battery but having to tap my watch to get info is really getting old. I am going to turn this back on - I must get over my battery ocd. With my usage - I'm at 87% at the end of the day (AW3 GPS).

You very well could go at least two days. I have seen in the 80's many time when putting on the charger.
