I'm just looking for the best price to buy the MBP Refresh, specially the 15". I know there are student discounts, however I'm wondering if Amazon will do their normal -$100 price, along with free shipping and no tax. Any other websites or b&m stores would be great too.

Thanks! I am exciiited :D

As far as I know, Amazon never did a 100 dollar discount, but theres no tax and shipping is free.

They dont have a $100 discount, but they sell it cheaper than the retail. For example, the low end 15" retail is $1799, about a couple weeks ago it was selling for $1708 straight from amazon. Now the price went up to $1,724.33.

I'm just wondering if they're going to sell it $70-100 lower than retail at the refresh.

None of us know what the prices at Amazon will be. You'll have to wait to see.

You need either a friend who works for Apple, or a student.

Previously Amazon didn't have the new MBP until a week later, at least when I was in the market for one last year. That right there kinda kills it for me, unless of course they'll have it available ASAP. I need a new laptop yesterday since I sold mine off haha. So I rather not wait and will be buying with student discount probably at Apple, though if Best Buy gets it on day 1, I'll probably buy there first.

oh wow, do you remember what the pricing was for amazon?

Amazon usually do not have the devices after a week. Apple tends to focus their stocks at apple store first and then other big retailers like best buy.

Also, if you are a student, then go to best buy and have them price match. They will price match.

Any place that doesn't charge sales tax in NY? :(

Criaglist.

Seriously, if you live in NY, then you have to be not so serious about some tax. Everything in NY is so expensive starting with parking. NY is so expensive and I am never going back there ever again.

dang thats bad news. I was hoping to buy it at amazon. 2 day amazon prime shipping + no tax + $70-100 off retail. I was hoping to get it earlier

Maybe buy from MacMall & use the extra 3% discount (if this is still available) through the link from the AppleInsider site?

the base models on all sizes are usually up in around 10 days or so...probable with the usually 3% discount to start and no tax in many places and free shipping.

Not sure how long they will keep free shipping since it is eroding profits and the stock took a hit for it...

Amazon has higher sales than Best buy and Apple want to keep them in good graces just as much.

Nope. No way apple will give that many stocks to amazon. This MBP will sell very well for weeks. If I were apple, I would give it my own store first, so I can make as much money as possible. If they sell it thru best buy, amazon or others, then they start losing some of their profits to those retailers. No way. Wait for 1-2 weeks.

hcho3 is right, this is usually the case too. When my GF was waiting for the white unibodies. She waited about a week for our local BB to stock them. A week wasn't bad and it was probably b/c the Pro's were not refreshed at the time. Oct 2009 MB.

Also, no I did not remember the price for amazon's MBP launch price. Don't think there was much of a reduced price, but I could be wrong.
