I'm looking other purchase an iPhone 6s. Ideally an A1633 but if I can't find one at a decent price how important is it to have band 30? Not traveling overseas. Will be used primarily in Minneapolis and surrounding burbs. Is band 30 just an extra band for when AT&Ts other bands are over capacity? Verizon devices seems to easier to find at a decent price.

Not really that important. Ideally it would be better to have than not, but it's not going to really affect your service not having it. It's a higher frequency band, so you won't get better coverage with it. You might get a bit better speeds if AT&T even uses that band where you are, but that's about it.

Band 30 is considered an overlay band by AT&T and is currently really only of any benefit in select urban areas or in select sport's arenas where it is active. For the average customer you will never miss it or even know that you are using it.

Note: Band 30 uses 2.3 GHz aka WCS (Wireless Communication Services) spectrum.

I was with ATT up until last July or August and had LTE everywhere we went. I think it's fairly safe to say you won't notice for years, if ever.
