I don't know why people just can't say "I disagree and here's why ..."

I love this site because I don't know that much about technology and I like to read the various debates and differing opinions.

I also on occasion ask for some guidance about Apple products and the other users are always willing to answer my questions.

There is no need for people to insult each other. If you think someone else is wrong, prove it with facts, not insults.

Also what is right for one person may not be right for the next person. People have different needs. Maybe they are like me, they have trouble seeing small screens. That means we should use a dumb phone to jus make calls & use our 30" displays on our Macs to read our emails.

If I want a large screen does that make Apple wrong & me right? Or if you like small screens does that make Apple right along with you & me wrong? Or does it just plain mean that we have different opinions based on our needs, wants & maybe even some of our history. Does that mean we both could be wrong or we both could be right? These both are probably correct. But what does it matter? I used to think that Apple had a saying like think different,or maybe just be different.

Most people just need to step back & look at what they are really saying & how important the subject really is. This is just a rumor site & not necessarily a fact site.

We as Mac & Apple iToy Users needed to have some strong competition. Without that Apple can take the easy way out & not really update their products on as timely schedule. A good strong Android Market will be one of the best things to ensure that our iToys are as great as they can be. iToys is so much easier to say than iPod Touch, iPhone & iPad. I already have enough of these iToys to call them that. Remember for income tax purposes your goal can be to take your toys & turn them into business tax expense. So to me the term iToy isn't a bad term, just a shortened term.

doesn't it seem to make sense that apple might tick-tock the iPhone. Major releases might hold interest longer (>1 year before refresh) with minor releases holding the top spot for less than a year.

i'd expect major releases in june and minor releases in october.

June to Oct is 4 months. No way. Apple already tic-tocs the iPhone, and each cycle is normally 12 months. I don't dare to hope for them to go any faster for several years. Two days ago I still did though...

I don't really think I will need LTE anytime soon. I think ATT's network, for me in Houston, is fine enough. I usually hit between 3-5 Mbps down and 1.2 up. That's plenty for me. Of course every now and then it's terrible (speed), but I don't stress it.

I meant 16 mo. - not 4.

As art the iPhone 4 is awesome. As a practical work tool it is poor and requires a decent case, which somewhat negates it's aesthetic.

A redesigned case and bigger screen would have been easy. Apple dropped the ball and their stock is dropping accordingly.

But your 3GS is still a currently selling iPhone. Why do you need to replace it? Apple says it's still good enough to sell. I thought that everyone here took what Apple says as the gospel.

Well you thought wrong.

Give me a break. You should take your expertise, as you clearly know more about this then Apple, start your own company and show Apple how to do it so they don't drop the ball again.

Taz - an iPhone 4 without a good case will give you a break.

Apple could have done more. Others are managing to - why not Apple?

If by dropping you mean up by 5 points 1240 Pacific Time...

Apple did do more if you bothered to even read about it. I have used the Samsung Galaxy S II and I see nothing new. Another plastic case enclosed cheap cost cutting design that runs the malware infested OS that is called Android. Yea it has a larger (by .5") screen that also happens to have a lower resolution than the iPhone 4/4s screen. Personally, I like the two glass and metal design of the iPhone 4/4s.

How many Android phones, which are over two years old, will run the soon to be released Android "Ice Cream Sandwich" OS update?

How the hell can you post this article now? A few weeks ago it was all about a phone that (apparently) didn't exist with this LTE/4G with it. All of a sudden the article says it's next year. A picture of 'Captain Obvious' would have sufficed.

Great, a buying opportunity. Apple stock will rebound like it always has, not that big a deal in the long term.

EDIT: As of 1630 Apple up 5+ points.

apple is more concerned with stock price than innovation. i'll pick up a nexus prime in the meantime.

I will chip in on the prime if it means your leaving.

Lol, how many phones released after ICS will run it...

Who is doing more? Give me something more meaningful than a cherry picked spec list.

They have sold about. 90 million phones with that case. How many have you sold? They have sold well over 120 million with that screen size? What data points do you have that show consumers are not interested in the case? What case sold more than this case today? Last week? Last Month? Last quarter? Last Year? I will answer all those for you, none of them. People still love the iPhone 4. If apple did nothing at all, we would be talking about how remarkable it was that it was still the number one phone.

Now 6 months from now, the 4S will be #1, the 4 will be #2, the 3GS #3. The prime? A really distant #4 if you don't count eBay resales of used iPhone 3G.

The SII is a free phone in the UK now, how weird is that.

Guys you need to chill. I've been iPhone since the minute it launched in the UK. I'm using my 2nd 4 now. All my computers are Mac. However that doesn't make me blind to reality. Apple could and should have done more in this rapidly evolving market.

There is no phone to touch the 4's look. But it's impractical.

Added to which the denizens here are not the ones who have propelled the iPhone to it's current position. That is the general, cool loving public. Cool comes and goes.

As for Apple stock, it dropped yesterday, bounced today but will settle lower. 4's is a letdown despite the internals. We know what they mean, but Joe public does not!!

I am not blind to reality. I use all the latest Android phones at work so I have first hand experience with Android phones. I also have first hand experience with iPhones, iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G. I see nothing new with the new Android phones.

A6 and possibly iOS 6 in the iPhone 5? I guess we can say goodbye to uniformity.

I'm deeply sorry that the arbitrary numbering system Apple has assigned to its ICs, phones and Operating Systems bothers you so much.

Well let's see

duh, that makes perfect sense... cuz we won't see another iPhone til then!!!

not like they'll pop LTE in a 4S right before the new iPhone is due out.

Happy

I'm happy the exterior design didn't change. I like the look of the 4 and the 4s will work with all the stuff out there for the 4.

Sure, LTE would be great now, but I'm not interested in picking up some serious speed at the expense of battery life.

The Siri thing sounds cool, I just hope it works well in reality.

Did you even read the article? The technology that Apple required for use in the iP4 is not available. The size and power requirements would have required tradeoffs that Apple wouldn't commit to.

People who have been following this have known about this for months. Even if the iP4s would have been the rumored iP5, Apple probably wouldn't have included LTE. Why? Read the article again.

It seems that Apple is bent on new phones having more battery life than old models.
