Anyone know how the iPhone decides which one it picks? Mine won’t show anything but LTE and I am solidly in the middle of a 5G coverage area. I’m pretty sure the speeds I’m getting match with a 5G network too.

Make sure that you have an updated Verizon SIM card that supports 5G...at least that was what Verizon customer service person told me.

When i switch from my 11 Pro max (bought from Verizon 1 year ago with new SIM included) to 12 Pro Max, i got 5G instantly.

Oops I’m with AT&T. Also it’s an esim, presumably that doesn’t need an update since it’s built in to the phone right?

When I upgraded from S10+ to Note 20 Ultra, I had to swap sim to get 5G on AT&T. Then kept the same sim for the 12 pro max since I already had a 5G sim. And make sure u have selected 5G on or 5G auto on cellular data settings. I have mine on off because 5G still slow here in Miami compared to LTE.

I Made sure all the settings are right and my plan supports 5G. I guess a call to AT&T is unavoidable at this point.

Which phone do you have? For an iPhone, you need at least the 12 series. Also, you need to have a compatible plan. On ATT, some unlimited plans. I'm not sure of the current status of T-Mobile or Verizon. Also, you likely need to be directly on the carrier. Many MVNOs don't offer 5G yet. It depends on the MVNO and how the carrier allows the MVNO to carry it.

I'm on Verizon w/12 Pro Max and mine is on LTE until I do something like try to watch a video or something that eats a little bandwidth and then it seems like it bumps over to 5G. I was worried the first two days because it stayed at LTE, but now I'm seeing it swap regularly to 5G.
