it's probably a good idea to lurk unless something really grabs you.

once you post a few times, you're sucked in... if for no other reason than to check back to see what so and so said back to you.

OK, OK, OK!

I actually cruse in and out a few times a day, but hardly ever post. It was a good few months before I even signed up . I guess I enjoy the mac community, but only add when it looks like someone else hasn't yet. Nothing is as irritating as reading a huge thread only to find a few original ideas. (Just raising their count? Nah!)

Man, I feel bad... everyone seems to have lurked before they joined! I just kinda rocked up, saw what a great place this is, posted for a week or so (without registering) and then registered. I guess I'm just not a lurker. It isn't in my nature. :)

I just enjoy all the speculation which I have none to add since I don't know I guy who actually cuts Steve Jobs' grass that got a glimpse of the new OS (no, not 10.2, but 10.2.1.34!!!!) and happen to decifer the speed of the system bus by calculating the vibrations in the house's windowpanes caused by the resonating frequency of the motherboard.

Actually, I don't post because of my secret Mac shame:

I have no idea what spring-loaded folders are.

Actually mischief, your number of post fall with the set defined by 200+, so you really didn't need to make a stink.

Anyway, its great that more of you lurkers are coming out, but when are we going to see the guy with the 1?

You on a Mac??? Give OmniWeb a shot. Automatic spellchecking in all forms. Gotta love that!

well I "lurked" around for a few weeks before I joined up in January 2001...

I just don't understand why some lurk around for so long before joining...

what's the average looking like now duke??

I joined up last summer and just now started posting. It was this forum that convinced me to switch platforms, so I figured I might as well contribute something. I still lurk a lot more than I post. I check these forums 20 or so times a day, usually spending around 4-5 hours here. I learn a lot, but I don't know a lot. That's why I don't post a ton of stuff. I've no desire to clog the board up with junk like this post. :) :)

OK, well, I was going to register as someone else just so I could be the person that posted with 1 pst, but then I realised how lame that could be. But it would be funny. So you can just laugh anyway! :)

Greetings! I read macrumors.com every day for about 6 or 7 months,I used to post stuff here and now I'm just a lurker..

But that's not this thread, so it doesn't count, unfortunately.

And Beej, I was thinking someone might do that, but you would have been disqualified because your member date would have been the same. I was thinking more along the lines of a member lurking in the thread shadows for a while then coming out.

True, you could have said you were lurking as a guest, but it would have been a little fishy....:D

OK, I'll admit, I have been lurking for about a year, when I finally decided that it was time to start posting.
Lurking is fun though, I read through most of the threads, saw what you 500+ posters where talking about, and then I said: man, I thought they were discussing serious things :p So after a year I realised that even I could join in, (it took me practically a whole year to realise that:D )

Counting each individual once I get 398.8, pretty crappy. Mischief blew the curve, figures:D. Without him it would have been 337.2, still bad, but a big jump none the less.

I am he; I am the dude with, now, 1 post.

Been lurking here for quite some time. I still use the integrated monitor PowerPC Mac (5400?) and the Powerbook I got back in 1996 at the start of college. And I, like so many others, decided to read everything under the sun so as to make a good (or atleast better) decision on when to buy a new laptop.

All best,

enchant
