Zigbee ios kind of like that, you can overload a receiver or have some kind of intergerence with other users of the 2.5 GHz band. Lutron uses low frequency radio, well below 1GHz.
Yup. Which makes Lutron foolproof compared to just about anything else.

Still rocking Lutron Maestro Wireless switches, sensors and dimmers from 2013, although I did just buy an updated Vive (MRF2S-GCL) dimmer for the kitchen because it works LED loads better. iPhone control though? No thanks, Pico remotes work just fine.

Why they don’t make a standard wall plug switch is beyond me. I use their lamp dimmer for this but it has its limitations
@Rychiar - you might want to check out MRF2-15APS, it has 1 and 3 outlet versions and is a switch (not a lamp dimmer), kinda bulky but can handle up to 15A!

Differnt people think differently about price. I tell people "What is an extrat $1,000 for lights in a $50,000 kitchen remodel job?" Once you get going you can't have one light that is unautomated
That’s just a common sales tactic (I’m in sales too). Doesn’t work if you’re just looking at buying one dimmer like me.

That’s not true in my case. I have the Hue hub about 10ft from the bulbs in my bedroom and they don’t work 100% reliably. Drives me a bit crazy.
Sounds like interference. Have you tried changing the Zigbee channel?

I have four hubs at home, all on different channels.
  • Hub#1's nearest bulb is about 3 ft away.
  • Hub #2's is about 9ft with an intervening floor/ceiling.
  • Hub #3's is about 25ft away and through an exterior wall,
  • Hub #4s is about 35 ft away through an interior wall and floor/ceiling.

Everything's rock solid - apart from one very old bulb that occasionally appears offline in HomeKit but always works fine with the hue app.

Do you have anything else wireless in your house? Wireless home phone? I think wifi can interfere with zigbee on certain channels. Can you change your wi-fi?

Thanks for that. I’ve spent time troubleshooting and it’s still a nuisance, whereas my Lutron Caseta hub covers my whole house with zero failures.
