I picked up a 2015 MacBook Pro 15" headless with no hard drive or display. I installed the SSD stick and adapter to fit in the proprietary socket. I formatted the SSD stick on my wife's 2014 Mac mini and installed Big Sur. It works fine ran Tech Tools which found every ok an passed. Then I ran AHT which also passed ADP000. Later (I am Cheap) I picked up a 15" display as untested, no cracks. In fact it was pristine. So I hooked it up did get white screen boot chime and the screen dimmed from low Rez then brighten for high Rez it also had a grayish vertical bar. No other stuff. So I did install it on the laptop. While operating it I noticed the screen will go from white to a Magenta with a white vertical bar, if I close the lid the second screen will go black if I am on battery but stay on if I have the power pack AC running which is normal for clamshell. I am trying to determine if the LVDS cable is the culprit. If I close the lid an then open it I get a white screen then later it will go magenta. I did order a new cable and will swap it out on Monday. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

Change the cable still the same so the display is “bad”. Not worth getting a display so it will be used as a desktop.
