I have installed the LXQt desktop on my Debian sid ppc64 system.

I want to test the possibilities for a possible change of the default desktop for MintPPC from LXDE to LXQt.

It looks quite nice I must say. I can’t however go into the menu with a mouse. It only works with the arrow keys. Do you guys have the same experience?

Yes it is a bug with the Apple touch driver I was able to fix it with debians one click button fix….it says iBook but it worked my PowerBook as well

One button mouse

On iBook G4, editing mouse.sh with

echo 0x61 > /proc/sys/dev/mac_hid/mouse_button2_keycode
echo 0x64 > /proc/sys/dev/mac_hid/mouse_button3_keycode
echo 1 > /proc/sys/dev/mac_hid/mouse_button_emulation

makes the Fn-CTRL and Fn-ALT combinations behave as a middle and right button.

I just mean go through the menu in LXQt with a mouse. I don’t mean middle click or right click, just browsing through the menu and left click.

I understand what your saying you can open the menu and can’t click on anything to launch once the menus open..like I said for that is edit the confiragtion for hid…it’s a know bug…the only way to navigate is with keyboard to close the menu you have to hit escape. Like I said the fix for all that was the correction made above…

For example if you click on the notification area the click to navigate though does not function and you can either navigate with the keyboard or hit esc to close out the menu wether that be the start menu or things on the taskbar but if you click on the file manager you can click in that window with no problems..like I said fix is above

jeroen@debian:/etc$ sudo echo 0x61 > /proc/sys/dev/mac_hid/mouse_button2_keycode
bash: /proc/sys/dev/mac_hid/mouse_button2_keycode: Permission denied

you can do this but it won't solve the menu problem

sudo sysctl -p

Yep, I gotcha. LXQt can look pretty slick! About that menu issue, some folks faced the same deal. Seems like the mouse won't open the menu, gotta use those arrow keys for now. Might be a little quirk in the system, but that's the scoop for now.

It looks nice indeed but I am not convinced for us PPC users.
First of all it is pretty slow, even on an iMac G5. Secondly, this mouse thing is a no go for me. I don't see MintPPC switching to this DE soon. I will stick with LXDE for the moment.
It would be nice to get the lxpanel problems solved in LXDE now Debian moved to gtk3. I am working on that.

Oh well the fix worked for me I’m able to click with no problem using the hid fix above….im able to click in the menus with no problems latest Debian Sid…others used it as well and there’s are working again to……
