Locally I can’t find toilet paper or paper towels or Lysol spray or wipes.
there’s a local family store but it’s ratherfar and I am not sure they have what I need as no one answers the phone. if anyone can plug me in send me a PM. I’ll pay.

Odd. My local Target has everything you just mentioned and then some. It seems some stores are starting to show signs of adequate refueling of stock, maybe it’s a ‘timing thing’.

Now, three weeks ago, you couldn’t find any of what you mentioned, But in my area, it seems to becoming more ‘lucrative’ to find various household cleaning products/toiletries. However, it probably depends on the state/region you live in, as if you reside in a ‘hot-zone’, then that probably would make a difference in terms of actually finding supplies.

Just a quick tip:

If you can’t find any supplies at your local retailers, check ‘auto parts stores’ for sanitizers and some locally owned gas stations (As in..‘Non-corporate’) might actually stock A cheaper variant of individual roll paper towels/smaller quantity packages of one-ply toilet paper.

And if you can’t find toilet paper, then try Kleenexes as an alternative, and if you can’t find Kleenexes, well, I’d start collecting maple leaves off a tree as a last resort. 😁

Where are you at in Florida? Did you see my post in the other thread regarding TP? I know people all over the US, and it's not odd at all, in fact, the more common situation is lack of stock from the feedback I'm getting from F&F from both coasts (DC, ATL, SF, Portland, Chicago, Boston, Norfolk, Charlette, etc.)

Lysol has never used bleach in their products. You may be thinking of a Lysol product with hydrogen peroxide, which is a weaker oxidizing chemical, and can sometimes discolor fabrics. Even Clorox wipes don't contain bleach. Clorox is a separate company from Lysol which is owned by another, non-related company. Certain Clorox sprays don't contain bleach, and some do at germicidal concentrations in a stabilized solution. Sodium hypochlorite AKA bleach is unstable in water solutions after about 24 hours. It degrades itself. BZK, the active germicidal/virucide in Lysol spray doesn't stain or oxidize color in fabrics.
Lysol.jpg

The bottle of Lysol I used. "Active Ingredient" 2% Sodium Hypoclorite, which is bleach, which is sold under the brand name Clorox. There is no difference between Clorox and the store brand bleach except maybe the %. You are wasting your money buying Clorox. Be careful if you bought one of these versions of Lysol. BTW, another odd thing about this stuff is if I get some on my hands, the cat go nuts and attacks my hand!

Laundry bleach sold in gallon jugs is 5% sodium hypoclorite which I have never seen degrade in one day.

seems sodium hypoclorite (bleach) is unstable?

whatever
I am not a chemist but generally how things go is a gas, desolved into a liquid, stability is dependant on time, preasure and temperature. If your local Kroger grocer keeps their warehouse at 33 degrees F all good but say mid summer its 95 degrees the plastic gallon bottle of house hold bleach has gone flat, left the liquid into the warehouse atmosphere.

The concentration of bleach to water dosnt need to be that high to be effictivve for use around the home. A spray bottle is some that sealed.

Lesson in basic civics:
Lysol is a marketing gimic.

So, what I would do, if you can’t find specific stock you’re looking for, is if you have social media/Facebook marketplace, maybe put out an ad for “WTB” (Want to Buy), and if you have local members of your community that are wanting to make some extra money and you’re willing to pay their ‘said’ prices, then there you go. Keep in mind about the suggestions I made above about regarding the auto part/gas station locations.

The Gas station might be a place to go...

I wish you luck. Definitely try it, try to look for gas stations that are franchise/locally owned, they tend to stock more ‘practical items‘ versus say a ‘BP or Mobile Exxon’.

If you have the expendable income, somebody would be willing to sell you some household items you need off of local sites, But at a premium price.

Luckily the first week of March, I went to my local Target and they just put out a bunch of 3 packs of Clorox wipes. The limit was 6 at the time, so I bought 6. In my defense, I have like 10 people in my family that live in 4 different places, haha. We don’t know how long this will last.

Seeing you’re from New York, it definitely will vary from region to region for supply regeneration. In Terms of being on the rebound, you’re likely to see a far greater shortage of supplies for a longer duration in N.Y., where resupplying is consistent on a daily basis in various northern sectors, but it’s also a timely factor when XYZ product is in stock, it may only last a few hours before it sold out again, and then the cycle starts Starts the same again with in a day or so.

Where I’m at, you can find supplies, you just have to be strategic in when you actually can figure out when they re-supply stores, but in states like New York, I can’t even imagine trying to find a freakin bottle of hand sanitizer at any given time.

That's a bathroom tile cleaner. I brought this up with Missus Z who thumped me on the head and pointed out the bottle we have in the laundry room. Supposedly good on soap scum. That said, we used to use 409 for years, and honestly thought we still did. I'm not sure why we stopped using 409 and opted for Lysol. I think we only use it for the laundry room sink because that stains from time to time and it's easy to brighten it up.

I know that bleach draws out oils from your skin much like soap. It's why your hand gets slippery if you get bleach on it. As to why your kittens love it... I don't know. My guess is there's a compound in your hand oils that degrade via the bleach and to cats it's irresistible in scent?

When discussing Lysol spray, people are often talking about the aerosol cans or the disinfectant.

You're presuming their solution isn't stable. I'm not sure what you use bleach for but we go through 3 large bottles from Costco every 4 months. Our uses are for whites and disinfecting cutting boards and knives after prepping a large chicken purchase. I use a weaker solution to bleach white mugs of mine that get stained from coffee and tea.

If Lysol is a marketing gimmick than they're doing it poorly when they cost a mere buck more than a store brand's product or less. 3 bottles at 121 fl. oz. of the performance bleach for under $9. At $27 a year for bleach, it's a good deal. It's maybe at most $40-45 a year if you buy it from a regular store. All hail Costco!

You can figure all this out but can't find a brand of beet juice? Just how?...

Dynamically, my mind is trained to be that way, which makes me so versatile In the strategy of locating Lysol wipes!

Oh....

That was ‘Knudsen’ beet juice To be exact you suggested, and nope, still can’t find it. (Isettle for Organic farms). During your little hiatus that you tend to Regularly disappear on every six months or so, I kept my eye out in different stores and I’ve never found that brand.

I'm itching to rant about millenials thanks to you but you lot can win this round. I've had a mug of warm milk and am about pass out. Good night.

I’ve been lucky I guess. It takes maybe 1-2 days, but I have been able to order disinfectant wipes, paper towel, and toilet paper when I’ve been looking on amazon.

Also found a script that will let me know of a delivery window for Whole Foods. Used it the first time on Saturday because our local grocery store delivery service is constantly out of items we have been trying to order. Managed to get everything we couldn’t get from the local grocery store from Whole Foods. Not sure if Whole Foods has better inventory management or my local grocery store hasn’t been able to properly rebalance their inventory given the shift of demand to online ordering and delivery. Last time I was out, the delivery service said it was out of quite a few items, but went to the local store and they had full stock of everything that didn’t show up. So maybe they haven’t rebalanced the inventory for the delivery service vs local stores inventory.

How are you able to get disinfectant wipes on Amazon? I've looked and they've all been restricted to purchase only for medical facilities.

plain old ammonia is in short supply at our most visited grocery store
Try a local hardware store . My local True Value/Ace places always have it . But you might have to ask . My local guy only sells gallons and he keeps it in the back .

I see the giant tubs or like 6 pack bundles are restricted for medical facilities, but not all of them. You just have to wait until the ones that are not restricted pop back up when they are in stock. They won’t show up unless they are in stock on the search for them.

I’ve been able to buy these. And a bundle of 4 Lysol ones.

People like you are why I can't get even ONE... lol

Sorry.... lol I have been turned into the family shopper because they learned I have the luck to find these things so I am shopping for more than myself.

My daughter said she was able to get a 4 pack of wipes a few days ago, but I checked them out and completely gone. Luckily for me, I accidentally purchased two giant tubs the last time I needed some (forgot I had grabbed a tub the day before) so I am not short on them now. 2 giant tubs is enough for 1 person, I may end up giving one away if anyone close runs out and can't get more.

ill stick with the basics:
-pile of clean rags, use one say on the floor and toss it into the wash, hang outside to dry.
-gallon containers of bleach and or ammonia. I think either can decay and become somewhat ineffective over time. When prices stabilize ill look into the BZT chemistry, this thread, above.
-hand soap & warm water

i can walk to the local super market:
-painful to see the under paid employees infect their families to insure my fabulous retail experience
-prices are unstable
-we have been eating well out of the our freezer 4example defrosting ingredients to baking a peach pie today

Got the last gallon of ammonia from the grocery store shelf this week. I didn't think of our True Value Hardware, although the last time I was there they had toilet paper for sale!

My county has a massive shortage of sanitizing products, as a matter of fact, Clorox/Lysol wipes have been removed from all retailers and shifted to healthcare centers as priority first. I reached out to my friends out in Tennessee who Actually had some limited stock of I was able to score ~60oz container of 80% hand sanitizer solution, which I micronized into smaller ‘spritzer‘ like bottles For both personal and household use.

The caveat, you just can’t drink it....😁
