m-audio fast track, cubase an mac

i am using an m-audio fast track with a G4 powerbook. the fast track works fine with garageband which is good but i also want to use it with cubase sl that i also have. i am having problems setting the fast track as an input an output in the device settings of cubase. i have followed manual instructions but still no joy. anyone got any ideas or have had this problem and resolved it.
