Just got my M$ Office Suite deal and they sent me the wrong one. (H&S instead of Special Media). There was a letter in the package that said their ordering system had messed up and they weren't sure what I had ordered. The letter invited me to call them if the order was incorrect.

I called the toll-free number in the letter and spent a mere moment or two in phone jail and then the very nice person on the phone verified that I had received the incorrect version (she asked me to read the part number from the disk) and then told me that they'd be sending me the other version and i could keep the incorrect one. They're also refunding my shipping cost.

Sweet.

I had to open it to read the part number off of the disk, is that an issue that would hinder resale?

Yeah, my copy came with that letter as well. (I got the right version, however.)

As long as you disclose that it's an open box, there's no reason why it should be a problem. It would only be a problem if you had already installed it on your system, or were not including the product keys.

Too bad it wasn't the other way around. You pay for H&S and get the other.

Technically, none of us payed for anything other than S&H. As part of the Super Suite deal you could chose either 3 licenses of Home & Student or one license for Special Media Edition.

Yeah, and they even refunded my shipping to compensate for the trouble. All in all, very nice of them they way they handled it.
