I am in the market for a new MBP and read a lot about the leaks on the supposedly upcoming 2021 MBPs. My question to you out there: Its the current M1 MBP still a buy or should I better wait for the new ones? THX for your advice.

Excellent piece fo hardware. But I love the extra battery life of the MBP.
From what I“ve seen I prefer the current design. So maybe I‘ll go with a current M1 MBP with 16 gigs of ram. What do you think? There are new m-series MacBooks coming, but I wouldn't expect them to start shipping until late August or early September. They may be announced earlier (perhaps as soon as WWDC).
Can you hold out that long?
Good thought concerning design flaws. The current one is a proven design and I really like. I can’t think of a task only the upcoming MBPs can do.Another vote for the Air - I don't think you will be disappointed with the battery life. It's very good - hard to say how long it lasts though as varies a lot with type of use. Air is also a bit cheaper than Pro, so less remorse if a new laptop comes out later on this year.
Pro is the one to get *right now* if you want the touch bar, since that seems to be going away.
Consider this though: what do you expect a next-gen Air/Pro to do that the current one cannot? If nothing springs to mind it might be worth letting early adopters figure out the kinks of the new design. There always seems to some kinks with new models: cf staingate, dodgy backlights, dodgy keyboards, etc. The current M1 macs we know are very good and - I hope - we know their flaws too (limited display outputs and excessive SSD writes being the main one).
Especially if you get a 200€ discount right now.The M1 MBA and M1 MBP are both still great machines and definitely still worth purchasing. No real reason not to.
That is an excellent discount. And if you use it towards the M1 MBA, the deal is even better. I really like my M1 MBA. It is the best computer I have ever had.Especially if you get a 200€ discount right now.
You definitely sound like it 👍😁That is an excellent discount. And if you use it towards the M1 MBA, the deal is even better. I really like my M1 MBA. It is the best computer I have ever had.
I guess I’ll join you soon.I am incredibly happy with my 13" M1 MBP. I'm only a month and a half or so in with it, but it is pretty slammin'. 👍
Personally I'd be the MBA with 16GB of RAM or wait it out.
What‘s wrong with the current MBP?This is how I feel. If an Air fits the bill, go ahead an pull the trigger. But if you think a MBP is a better fit, I'd wait for the next round.
What‘s wrong with the current MBP?
The current one fits my needs perfectly. And I just couldn’t resist the 200 € discount I got. So I ordered a 13“ 16 512. 😁Nothing specific - I just feel we're getting close to seeing the new models announced and decided to wait. I didn't think there was a huge amount to differentiate the Air and M1 MBP, so my hope is we'll see some significant improvements this Fall (>16GB, more ports, etc).

I just go the M1 13" MBP and I love it. Battery life is insane. Depending on what you are doing, you will get something between 15 and 20 hours with brightness at 50%.From what I“ve seen I prefer the current design. So maybe I‘ll go with a current M1 MBP with 16 gigs of ram. What do you think?
That's awesome! I'll have to remind myself, where I put the power brick last time I used it.I just go the M1 13" MBP and I love it. Battery life is insane. Depending on what you are doing, you will get something between 15 and 20 hours with brightness at 50%.
