I wonder if people with the issues are setting up as new or migrating data over? I setup as new and my AirPods seem fine.
Also set up as new. It's intermittent and happens only occasionally. I can listen to Spotify or watch YT videos for a half hour and have no issues before I hear the stutter. Sometimes it happens more like every 10-15 minutes. I've never had similar issues with my spring 2020 MBA. Also happens with my AirPods V2.

I've not experienced any problem

I recovered from a TM backup and I have no issues with BT so far. Running a M1 Mini and the BT devices I have is a gen 1 magic mouse and AirPod Pros.

EDIT:// Another question people should ask themselves is if you run WiFi or wired network. I run wired to my mini even if WiFi is on (for airdrop apple watch unlock etc).

Just got M1 MBA today and once I put on my AirPods it connects. I don’t even have to set it up or pair. Watched 2 hours of movie without a single skip.

strange to see that different people have different issues, as for me my airpod pros work fine, its the magic mouse thats not working properly... some people have it the other way... very strange...

This is most likely an issue of using a lot of non-Apple bluetooth devices. Switch them all off bluetooth, and then see if the problem goes away. If you can't do that at your location, go to another building where you can eliminate all that noise.

A lot of these non-Apple products are terrible for building bluetooth noise that ruins your wireless experience.
Nope. M1 MacBook Pro with Apple Magic Trackpad and keyboard, having these issues. Definitely M1 + Big Sur bluetooth problem.

All my Bluetooth devices cut out too with MacBook Air M1. My PC, my Android phone, my wife's Sony phone, my daughter's iPhone XR... They only connect for few seconds and then cut out. Apple need to fix it ASAP. I can buy a 300$ PC laptop or Chromebook and all those devices will work like they should. It's difficult to understand why Apple can't fix this BT problem on their products. They don't want to fix it or what the hell is it? It's 2 trillion $ company so one would think they can fix it easily. Anyways it's a bummer.
I tried it with Linux Mint and... the bluetooth worked just fine. I don't know what is it. At least it's not a hardware problem.

First day, first 6 hours, no issues yet. Apple Magic Keyboard & Trackpad, AirPods Pro have been in constant use. Using an LG 5k + M1 Air in clamshell mode.

Update/hardware/radio situation:

Big Sur 11.0.1
MacBook Air M1, 8 core GPU, 16 GB, 1 TB
Zyxel Multy Wifi with 2 mesh nodes, one of them very near
No non-Apple BT devices tested yet (will try Bose NC700 tomorrow)
No other strong radio signals nearby, as far as I know, except a bunch of mobile phones/tablets

This was a clean install, followed by a migration over direct WiFi, after creating a test account for admin purposes. The source Mac was a 16" MacBook Pro.

Good to know there's a thread if there are problems later.

Reposting this from another thread that was lost in the ether:

I have a base M1 Mac Mini and Bluetooth is straight-up broken.

It started when I tried to update to macOS 11.0.1 and the computer hung after every restart in addition to my Magic Mouse and Bluetooth keyboard disconnecting. After a few times of that happening, the update somehow went through, I think after turning the computer off/on.

My Magic Mouse was also disconnecting after the computer went to sleep and sometimes for no reason, every time. Also, sometimes my Mini has simply not woken up from sleep. This is using the old 21" LG Ultrafine 4K monitor. So I've done two things there: set the computer in System Preferences to not go to sleep and just started using my Microsoft Bluetooth mouse.

My Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard was still disconnecting from time to time, so I'm now temporarily using my wife's Magic Keyboard until the wired keyboard/mouse I ordered from Amazon gets here.

I also tried some Apple Arcade games, figuring those should work ok...wrong. Trying The Pathless, the Nimbus wasn't even recognized, and my Xbox One controller exhibited controller drift to the point that it was unplayable. I also tried to play Samurai Jack with the Nimbus, and while that game did recognize the controller, it too exhibited controller drift which made the game unplayable.

I'm really really disappointed with the Bluetooth and sleep/wake performance here. I also have a 2016 12" Macbook and never had the slightest Bluetooth issue, so that makes me worried that it's related either to the M1 chip or the hardware design. My cheap wired keyboard/mouse coming on Monday should fix some of the problems, but it shouldn't be this way in the first place. It's still not going to fix the controller situation, or the sleep/wake issues, or the general Bluetooth issues. If it really is a hardware issue, then I'll have no choice but to return it. Apple better acknowledge this problem quickly, or this is going to blow up and get out of hand pretty quickly.

My M1 MBA had a complete bluetooth freakout yesterday. Everything disconnected (KB, Mouse, QC35's) and the bluetooth menu was non-responsive. After turning BT off and on a couple of times all my devices (incl. iCloud connected Airpods & AirPods Pro) were gone from my BT menu and I had to re-pair everything.

Normally my BT problems on this machine have just been my mouse disconnecting.

Apple Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Trackpad - all having BT issues with my M1 Mini.

I did turn off WiFi (I have an ethernet connection for the Mini) and it seems to be working (for the last 24 hours).

It's frustrating to have this going on, and I sure hope it can be fixed with a software update.

Apple full sized Magic keyboard, Magic Mouse and Sony NC headset - NO issues.
M1 base Mini w/ dual displays.
I use wired Ethernet (Thunderbolt Ethernet) thru my 27" Apple TB display.

Wireless / WiFi is off.

I reset the bluetooth adapter and then restarted the Air and now my bluetooth headphones seem to stay connected much better.

2020 M1 Macbook Air.
Airpods Pro

Watching youtube videos = .5 second disconnects every 1 to 2 minutes. Things keep working and playing, but the audio just 'clips' off for half a second.

DEFINITELY having bluetooth issues. I have two M1 macbooks, both have connectivity issues with my airpods (also have mutiples, pro and normal) cutting out intermittently. Seems slightly worse with the airpods pro. I am happy this is happening to others, a fix will likely come soon (hopefully)
(bluetooth problems persist after recent os update..even tried 11.1 beta)

then why did all of my airpods work fine on all my previous intel macs with all these same "non-apple" devices around?

Yep, this is my experience as well. Apple needs to at least admit there's a fixable problem before the end of December, or I'm returning mine back to them. Lovely computer, but useless to me if I can't comfortably listen to music on it or make zoom calls.

None. My MPOW phones work well. As do my phones and other Macs. Haven't had any problems with BT really (or WiFi for that matter).

I have the Mac Mini M1. I was getting a Magic Mouse 2 Bluetooth disconnect a couple of times a day. I have wifi turned off. I am using a USB 3 hub with a couple of devices connected to it. I bought a decent USB 3 A/B cable to replace the one which came with the Amazon branded hub and over the past couple of days I have had no disconnects at all. Let's see how long it lasts!

Hopefully they can improve it with a software update. I have until Jan 8th to start a return and 14 days after that to get it shipped back. That will give apple a chance to at least put out a couple of updates. This is the nicest computer I've ever had so prefer to keep it and ditch my old 2014 iMac but I may want to dock it with wireless accessories and a monitor and want it to work. Hopefully it won't be determined its some design flaw.

This happened to me today. Magic Mouse and Apple Keyboard disconnected suddenly and couldn't reconnect. Now completely gone from BT settings.
