M1 Beachball with iMovie on initial launch

Today, I launched iMovie for the first time and it immediately gave me the beachball. It did finally launch and on subsequent launches that doesn't happen. Anyone care to guess what might have caused it?

Mac mini M1. Big Sur 11.2.1

Not sure of the answer. But, I am about to purchase a Mac Mini, mainly to learn to use iMovie (and other things).
Curious, if you reboot/restart the Mac Mini, and launch iMovie does it do the 'beachball' thing?

Now that you're past "the initial launch" of iMovie, does it start up well enough?
No beachball?

If so, I wouldn't worry about it...
