I know, should be mostly unchanged except for performance bump from the M1. Should be a beast. I would like to hear about the display. Seem like the same as 2018 or 2020? Any color temperature change? Anything else unexpected?

so far so good. the only thing I have noticed is that when I open settings its like it overlays all the font for a few seconds. which could be a setting. just never seen this on any other iPad Pro I've owned. oh yes it is a new M1 11"

Display wise seems a noticeable difference in general media. Brightness and contrast is certainly better as expected.

I'm installing the latest beta and everything is setup all nice! Coming from a 2017 10.5 Pro, the screen looks STUNNING. This thing is huge! I can't wait to start playing around with it.

On a side note, I'm excited to finally have a 20W USB-C wall charger now. So now I can use this for fast charging on my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I'm picking up the Folio case today.

I'll be coming from a 2017 10.5" Pro as well and can't wait to see the difference, mine was delivered, I just gotta leave work and go home. Haha

Coming from a 10.5 pro which worked pretty well, but man this device really flies. No lag. I also find this easier to type on when using the touch screen. I think my 10.5 was starting to have some issues with screen response. I’m quite shocked at how quickly I can type on this..

one thing I hate. Face ID. The camera needs to be landscape. This is driving me crazy. Apple, at least let apple Watch unlock it to solve this problem if your going to be to stubborn to move the camera.

Stepped up to the iPP M1 11” 256GB from a iPP 10.5 256GB, Smart Keyboard folio from Smart Keyboard cover.

Love the thing to bits so far. The screen is measurably larger, plain to see side by side, but getting used to the thicker black bezels tops and bottom in landscape vs the thinner white ones on the 10.5. Deceptive though as reading comics via ComiXology & Chunky is much better - the slight uptick in screen size makes text much more legible to my 48 year old eyes with glasses.

And the speakers! Playing back everything from classic rock to chamber quartets via Apple Music and this thing can go loud, stays clean and sounds wonderful. A quick watch of the opening of Blade Runner and yes, this is going to be quite the improvement for music and video vs the 10.5. I’ve yet to try Spatial Audio with it with my APP.

Enjoying the Smart Keyboard folio as well, mostly with the lack of a hinge/crease on the base when expanded and set up for typing; the previous keyboard had a tendency to fold and the iPad topple forward when used on a soft lap vs a hard surface/table.

Not even come close to taxing the machine yet; the biggest difference I’m seeing is the sheer number of apps and Safar tabs I can switch away from and not have them having to reload when I switch back to them.

My 10.5 was 90% of a laptop replacement to me over the past few years; e-reader, comic reader, note taking machine, household budgeting, web browsing, music, audiobooks and occasional video watching doohickey. The gap has closed a little more, and will be more than happy with this machine even if future iterations of iPadOS stagnate where it is now.

When TC next get onstage/appears in an event video touting the customer satisfaction figures for the iPP, I’m happy to be counted amongst them.

Coming from a 2020. I certainly didn’t need to upgrade, but that processor and RAM spoke to me. Ive been slowly transitioning to using my iPad Pro as a primary.

The screen is exactly the same. Zero difference as expected.
So far, just setting everything up, instead of downloading from backup, I’m starting from scratch on this one. Downloads of apps, downloading content like emails, messages, there is no lag whatsoever. I never felt the 2020 slow me down, but I’m so far seeing this one speed me up. I’ve never had a setup go this fast on any device.
I am going to take it through its paces tonight and will do a little bit more of a comparison.

My new iPad Pro unlocks in either portrait or landscape orientation, as did my older iPad Pro.

From Apple Support:

On iPad, you can hold it in either portrait or landscape orientation. If it's in landscape orientation, make sure that your finger isn't covering the TrueDepth camera.

yeah, I started to notice that, but it barely works.. I’ll get used to it I’m sure.

I had to go to work, so I only had time to unbox it. I’ll be having fun with it when I get off!

I ordered both sizes but will be returning the 12.9”. Didn’t see enough difference in the Mini LED display during normal (non HDR) use to justify the extra half pound and bulkier size. Otherwise very similar to my 2018 11”. Pretty much exactly the same display and aside from being a little quicker to do some tasks it’s essentially the same experience.

if I had a 2018 or newer and upgraded I would be disappointed. I am coming from a 10.5 , so yea it seems to be a decent upgrade. I've used the 1st generation 11" and quite honestly there doesn't seem to be much difference with this.

going to wait, still happy with 2018 ipad pro 11, and now paired with my macbook m1 air 16gb 512gb with thermal pad mod; little by little I have been using my ipad pro less for video editing for my macbook air m1; but I do use my ipad pro 11 2018 a lot more for photo editing and photoshop

good decision... i will say though that the 2021 is a speed demon, noticeable even over my iPhone 12
