That oven the guy is using is $30,000 CDN. I guess Apple's target audience here is people who see $1,000 as a cheap disposable item. Like $1,000 for a set of casters.

FYI keep in mind people usually buy their homes with such amenities pre-installed so typically the cost of such an oven is already factored into the home. He most likely didn’t pay out of pocket in theoretical purchase. Also consider the person could be renting or Airbnb’ing it.

either way I think it’s idiotic Apple would do this as a product placement potential since it lends to potential thought of some water splash resistance being so near a sink. It’s just careless at best and idiotic if actually thought by anyone in marketing as “hey this is a good idea to show off orange iMac near a sink!” Like WTH? Lol

it’s in the same room as a sink. It’s not in a swimming pool, a bath tub, being used scuba diving, being used as an umbrella during a downpour, ...

Relax folks.

This is so cool it should be implemented in a separate stand alone camera and should be enabled on all recordings. I can see lots of benefits to this. making it a feature of iPad Pro only is a bit stupid since that is a very slim percentage of people out there.

You will have to walk behind the screen to clear a boogie. No more leaning over. Ha. Really through, great feature. I can see this in my kitchen just like in the ad.

Side note: The range in the back with the red knobs, Wolf maybe, looks sweet. As someone that cooks often I would love one of those.

what would this oven do that a regular oven will not?

Not that it needs a reply but, commercial equipment has a higher build quality and a longer lifespan than regular appliances reducing waste over time. Residential appliances are built with a relatively short lifespan in mind in comparison. The heat output of a commercial range is many times higher than a residential model which saves time cooking and increases flexibility in the cooking. I suspect you already know the answer but wanted to know why I would want to be so wasteful in my spending to consider something other than the entry level models in most homes that cook just fine. Most people only make ramen and call it cooking. Personally, I plan-shop-cook meals daily because its an interest of mine. So, I understand the difference in quality and value the difference in the time it can save. A resource that is not replaceable.

no I seriously wanted to know whats the difference between the fire produced by this wolf oven over a regular home appliance oven.

Primarily the BTUs. Most home ranges provide about 14k BTU, some are higher. Commercial will be 30-35k BTU. The one in the photo is more of a home/commercial with 15-18K likely. Also, the number of burners and space between them. Ha, on an Apple forum but interesting none the less.

You clearly don't wash your own dishes, pots, cups etc or have your kids do this by hand. You'd be VERY surprised how easily water can be splashed onto nearby counter. Water damage is water damage - and there is NOTHING in 2021 iMac documentation or page that says anything of resistance to this. 'Sealed' could only mean - preventing user access, not water sealed.

There is also cooking grease in the air ... that 4.5K screen after cooking a great mean is gonna last as viewable for long in the kitchen.

Again it's a ridiculous product placement for a commercial.

Let's vote:
whom here in the forums ACTUALLY and daily uses their MBA/MBP/MB/iMAC/MacMini/PowerMac/MacPro in the kitchen counter next to Sink / Stove ?

I'll do you one better. Try this yourself for 3mths - but you MUST use your sink wash dishes by hand at least twice a week in your home not carry them elsewhere nor use your dishwasher.

We have a dishwasher. We wash big pots by hand. We keep an ipad by the stove to refer to for recipes and to watch videos while we cook. It’s fine.

Again, relax.

Wow .. .you wash big post by hand. You have an iPad by the stove.

Sorry I said wash dishes - all not selective, also stated Mac not iPad ... very very different tolerances for seals between these computers.

I’m very relaxed, don’t you worry. I guess you’re not going to take my challenge to backup your earlier rebuttal considering you‘re countering with an iPad vs a Mac. ;) see.

Exactly the problem I’ve encountered. It seems that the tracking won’t resolve the issue
I dunno, but since the iPad in their presentation is in landscape mode while showing off Center Stage, I would assume (and hope) that it actually rectifies exactly the issue you are describing.

I have an induction range that is a fraction of that. I have never understood the reason for a commercial looking stove except for restaurants, probably a status thing. Some of the condos in my building have them. The range hood i could appreciate.

To be fair, a real commercial looking stove should be cheaper than this "commercial looking" one and this would not stand up to commercial use. It is nice quality, but it's definitely a fashion statement.

Comparing gas to an induction range though is no contest. With gas, the heat is there or gone much faster, changes to temperature are much faster, and gas brings a lot more heat a lot faster. Gas is a lot cheaper to operate and I don't have to worry about tiered pricing like I do with electricity. I'm not sure where induction fits on this, but the electric element stoves I've used are either on 100% or off with the controller switching it based on how high you have it set. Gas is a truly variable amount of heat.

When I was pricing them out, the cheapest gas stove in that physical size that I found was a Jenn Air for $13,000 Canadian, and the Wolf pictured at $30,000 Canadian looks and feels much better put together. Interestingly, the Apple picture is photoshopped to make it look "cleaner". For example, the switch for the inside oven light is to the left of the left-most knob and it's removed in the picture.

It is incredible to me that the $799 iPad gets this feature, yet the $1299 iMac does not.

iMac has essentially the same internals, a larger display and a few extra ports. Yet it gets a 1080P webcam...

Of course they have to save Face ID for next year's model.

The iPad is a portable camera. So it does make sense.
