I'm familiar with the giant 4k @ 120Hz thread, but before I figure what an EDID is...Is there an easier way to get 120Hz at 1080p or even 720p?? The option isn't showing up anywhere—even with BetterDisplay—and I'm boggled.

From what I can gather, my Vizio M801D-A3 TV seems to be capable of displaying 120Hz over its HDMI 1.4 ports, and I don't understand why a 2020 Mac couldn't output 120Hz at rather low resolutions...The cable I'm using is allegedly capable of 4K @ 60Hz, which takes more bandwidth than 1080p @ 120Hz...

Do I really need to mess with the depths of BetterDisplay to get this to work?? I ordered a new HDMI 2.1 cable just in case, but I'd love to understand what's going on here...

And while I'm here, how do I get 23.976 fps files to playback smoothly...? Can I get VLC to just...slow them down 0.01%...?
