I came home to my M1 Mac Mini stuck in a boot loop. Basically what is happening is the startup sound plays like half way, then it cuts out, and it turns off and then tries to start up again. It does this over and over until I unplug it.

I have tried to unplug everything from the mini and then plug only the power cord in and it does the same thing. I then tried plugging it directly into the wall outlet, bypassing the surge protector, and still the same thing.

I can't really get any information since it won't turn on. I don't know what version of MacOS I'm running because I can't check but it is a early M1 Mac mini, got it within a few months of it being released, with all the current updates.

I don't think it is an update though, I have manual updates so I can see what they are and I haven't been notified of one for a while.

Hopefully it's an easy fix, I thought maybe I was holding something down on the keyboard but I unplugged everything so it can't be that.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is your keyboard an Apple keyboard? If not, you may need one. Plug in keyboard, follow instructions to run Diagnostics.
4. Make sure that your Mac is on a hard, flat, stable surface with good ventilation.

I wonder what complaints or scenarios brought this advice topic up?

Nope, that is a no-go, it still does the same thing. For Apple silicone you hold down the power button until the menu appears but it still does a boot loop even with the button held down.

I google it an all that comes up is people's mac crashing and the rebooting. I was going to get the new M4 Mac Mini when it came out but I don't think that is for a while, lol.

what does the "option r" execution do?
if you can get that far.

seems to me you are on Sonoma if you kept everything currently updated.
are you getting this scenario (from )

No, it has the startup sound and before the startup sound can even finish it reboots. I tried option r but it reboots before anything can register. The monitor doesn't even have time to wake up.

Do you have a brick n mortar Apple Store anywhere close?

I'm thinking the genius bar might be able to help out with another Mac running Apple Configurator 2.

I believe there won't be any charge (even though it's probably out-of-warranty) so long as they don't need to replace any hardware.

Yeah, there is one really close, I'll give it a try this weekend.

My four year old 2020 iMac, similar problem. Not looking forward to the cost and hassle of sending it to Apple for repair. My self built PC almost 10 years still running strong.

OP disappeared and we never found out if his problem was resolved...
Yeah, I was curious if it worked. Anyway, I have a similar problem on my iMac and I ordered a cable and going to borrow a macbook and give it a try later this week. I'll post my results with info on how I did it.
