Well, just dropped it off for FedEx. Hoping it comes back quickly and with no further issues!

Well, just like I thought, the repair center emailed me and said they don’t see any issues and asked for more details. I just sent my video to them. I’m not going to be happy if they send it back to me as is without fixing it.

Good move. Hopefully, the tech will exercise some common sense and get it repaired.

I sure hope so. I even gave him my phone number, in case he wants to call and discuss with me. If they refuse to fix it, I guess I’m just out of luck. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and see what I hear.

Unbelievable. Now I get this message.

“Our technicians have run several diagnostics on your computer and have not observed the symptoms you reported. They are now performing more comprehensive testing. We will send you another email when the process is complete.”

I am confused. What diagnostics do you need to run to see that a key is loose???

That reply sounds like they didn't bother watching your video. If the tech can't see that the left shift is wobbly versus the right shift, he or she is blind.

Uh oh…. You gave this character your phone number. Based on his actions and comments so far, I think it is quite possible that rather than you receiving a call saying that they have found and fixed the problem, you will get a series of prank calls similar to Bart Simpson calling Moe‘s Tavern.

Update: I called Apple and they checked the specifics with the repair area, and they found out that the technicians confirmed my issue and are working the repair. I wish they gave better detail in their website updates. That message did not indicate that.

Hopefully it’ll be repaired and on its way back to me on Monday or so.

Good news but good lord, how many “technicians” does it take to confirm a key is very loose?

Glad to see this good news. Finally. lol

Well, that was fast. Just got notice that my repair is complete and my MBA is on its way back to me. Supposed to deliver Monday!

Just got my computer back. Thankfully, all of the keys appear to be uniform now. They replaced the entire top case. What's interesting is that they also replaced the display assembly, the Logic Board Flex Cable, the logic board, Touch ID, and the Audio Board Flex Cable. I am guessing that maybe they accidentally damaged some things while doing the repair, as none of those things appeared to have any issues when I sent it off. The only thing that I am now noticing is that the hinge for the screen is a lot tighter. I cannot open it one handed anymore. Wonder if there is an easy way to fix that?

I'm so pleased with this outcome for you. 👍 Maybe the hinge will loosen over the next few days.

It will probably just take a lot of repetition. How tight is it?

I was worried it was broken when I went to open it the first time. It felt sealed shut to me. I have to pry it open with both hands. I can get it to open with one, but it makes the bottom lift a good bit.

I would contact support and ask them if there is any need for concern. If nothing else, you are on record about the overly tight top.

I tried to ask about it, and they immediately wanted me to send it back in or go to the Apple Store. I just think I am going to leave it alone for right now. I am tired of dealing with repairs and such. I will say to be accurate, I notice a tiny bit more play in a few keys on this keyboard, after using it more. However, it's livable I think. I don't think I'll ever get a keyboard with 100% uniformity.
