Hey folks, in a mad rush to order a Mac Studio I chose the base model M1 Max chip (24 core GPU) instead of upgrading to the 32 core GPU version which I have in my MacBook Pro. Any ideas what kind of difference in performance I’ll notice when editing in Final Cut or After Effects? Are we talking about a notable difference here?

Any links to comparisons of these two chips or real world tests would be helpful. I could find any directly comparing these two. Thanks!

Adobe doesn't need the 32 GPU core, this is for 3D applications and games. I think if you search in the Geekbench scores, the 32c reaches 15% more in Metal.

If you have a look at Max Tech's videos I think he does a video showing the difference between the different core Max chips. But i actually reckon the Max will perform better in the Studio chassis than it does in a laptop, just like the basic M1 performed better in the Mini than the 13" MBP.

I ordered my M1 Max with 64GB/1TB minutes after the store came back up, and it says March 18-22. It's still in "preparing to ship" status, so I guess we'll see!

Edit: I meant to post this in the shipping thread, oops!
