M1 Max - Speaker Distortion

Not often I use my laptop to listen to something on, usually a desk parked with an external speaker. Probably over a year since I did.
Bit disappointed to realise the audio is distorting terribly generally across the whole laptop. Tried several sources just to make sure.
Is this a common problem?

I've not noticed it, but then again I have some really cheap (like $30 cheap) external speakers hooked up to my Mac Studio Max and I'm NOT an audiophile. I DO get distortion when I turn those speakers up to the loudest setting, but I know that's just the crummy speakers at work, not the Mac's internal sound system.

I’m currently sat at an Apple Store. They’ve gone to check the driver, either debris, popped speaker

Well there you go. They popped the case open and found a largish grain of sand bouncing about on the right speaker. Worth noting if someone has a similar issue. Sounding clear as it should once again.
