Hey,

This is kind of an old issue, but has become increasingly noticeable after upgrading to Ventura 13.1. I charged my MBA to 100%, came home from a gig, and it was at 80%. I noticed a decrease in battery life after upgrading to Ventura, possibly because of the crazy energy impact numbers in activity monitor, which is still happening. Long story short, the battery life has become much worse after updating to 13.1.

Cycle count is at 327, and it's been on battery for 2 hours, and has already drained nearly 40%.

Any ideas?

Did you check system activity? After an OS update there might be some background jobs that work for a couple of minutes to hours to do some cleaning, optimising or similar.

Optimized battery charging has never worked on my machine and I don't really care at this point. I probably should have been more clear—it DRAINED to 80% while I was away. And this was a day after updating.

or possibly... optimized charging is now working on your mac; perhaps check on that: system settings>battery>battery health>i

Strange. Mine seems to have actually improved significantly. On 13.0 I was recharging every 3 days. On 13.1 the usual three days have elapsed with not much change in my usage habits and it's still at 67%.

stuff like this makes me not want to update from 13.0

not really having any issues on M1 Air and battery life seems good enough

on an unrelated note - I like optimized battery charging. been using my m1 air as a desktop setup for a while and it staying docked keeps the battery nice and fresh

107 cycles and 99% health
