I've run into an issue twice that self-resolved and wondered if others have run into the same thing before I head to the Apple Store today for an appt. It's intermittent issues with being able to click the left trackpad (or external mouse or Magic Mouse 2) button.

Two weeks ago my 1.5 month old refurbished M1 MBA's trackpad (and Magic Mouse 2 and wired "normal" mouse) started acting up to where I could not left-click select anything. I could move the mouse and I could select certain menu picks via the two-finger press, but I couldn't use the mouse left click button.

I managed to shut down and run diagnostics and got this:

I *think* I was also using a bluetooth external keyboard and Magic Mouse 2 at the time.

I had lined up having to mail my MBA back to Apple 2 at the time since there were no local appts for weeks, only for the issue to then go away later that night. So I never sent it back.

Then the issue popped up again yesterday, while using a different Magic Mouse 2 and possibly the same bluetooth (non-Apple) keyboard (I'm not sure).

Ran diagnostics by limping along with the trackpad by using the two-finger click to run diagnostics and got the same code.

After looking around online last night I shut off the Magic Mouse 2 & non-Apple bluetooth keyboard, rebooted, and the trackpad seemed to be working fine. I ran diagnostics then but still got the same two error codes even with the trackpad acting normally. Same thing this morning; boots fine, trackpad runs OK, but the code comes up.

Both times (2 weeks ago and last night), the issue arose after I had walked away from the MBA for a short period of time, 10-20 mins.

In the course of writing this post I tried AirDropping the attached photo from my phone to this MBA and it would not connect, even after toggling bluetooth and rechecking that my MBA has AirDrop turned on (I can see my iPhone in the MBA AirDrop settings but it won't connect) making me suspicious of some additional wonkiness related to bluetooth.

Has anyone else run into this diagnostics code / trackpad issue, and what happened?

2TB, 16GB MBA

Thanks.

Edit: Now this morning I can't shut it down via the Apple menu --> Shut Down. Nor Restart.

How’s apples response on this issue? Do you have warranty of any sort to cover repairs?
My M1 MBP 2020 doesn’t have this issue.

I took it into the store today. They did a deeper diagnostic run and found no hardware issues. They recommended I reload Monterey clean then re-import my documents/music/movies/photos. I'm in the process of backing up and doing that. Fingers crossed of no disasters...

I have AppleCare+ but my MBA is only 2 months old.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I reloaded Monterey after complete erase, reloaded my personal files manually, and the error code was gone.

Reconnected the Magic Mouse 2 and logitech keyboard and the error codes reappeared.

Connected just the Magic Mouse 2 and the error code appeared.

Ran diagnostics after disconnecting the magic mouse 2 and the error code disappeared.

Some issue here, with an Apple peripheral to boot.

Summarized better here:

This one might be beating dead horse, but you could summarise what you have found, record some videos on your phone or something, bring all of them to Apple Store and see if there's anyone smart enough to know what you are experiencing is not ok and full reset is not an option. Maybe those peripherals need to be replaced.
