M1 MBA Keyboard Backlight.. Can't Turn Off

Loving my MBA after upgrading today, previous computer 2011 MBA.. Yeah 😂 I just don't think there is a way to turn off the keyboard backlight, which is a deal breaker. I've toggled the 'Adjust keyboard brightness in low light' setting, no changes. Kind of a deal breaker, a Touch Bar MBP might be in my future.

You had the slider in Control Center all the way down? When I have it all the way to the left the backlight on my new M1 MBA turns off:

Im ridiculous for not upgrading sooner.. maybe the faith learned from visiting MacRumors 5x/day is what made me hold out for so long, always expecting a major redesign the next cycle. I was hoping for a Liquid Retina LCD (<--at least) with rounded corners, reduced bezels, and FaceID, but I use my 2011 MBA daily and it has gotten to be a chore lately. Now I'm laughing at myself for being a cheapskate
