Does anyone know how I can trouble shoot battery drain? Appears to have started since either:

1. upgrading to Ventura
2. Installing Outlook & Teams for work access

I see lots of similar events in the log (subset shown below), from this command

pmset -g log | grep "Wake Request"

I am experiencing this issue. I have read old posts saying its a problem but I didnt have the problem until I upgraded. It does flat in 3/4 days from 100% in sleep. I have nothing plugged into it while its sleeping and turned off my BT Mouse.

Did you manage to solve this?

Yes I’d did,if you’ve got the same events then this command appeared to solve the issue

sudo pmset schedule cancelall

Thank you. Does it have any effect on the Mac? Does instant wake still happen. Do you notice any difference after running that other than no drain during sleep?

Doesnt' seem to have affected the mac, still wakes up when I open the lid!

*BUT* are you seeing the same things in the log as I think that is all it would change!

All these issues are alien to me and always have been, because I'm one of those weirdos who just shuts the computer down when i've finished with it.

Yes, that is very weird...
And yet, something so simple solves a bunch of issues that I see cropping up repeatedly. Help! my computer wakes up my monitor during the night. Help! my computer doesn't seem to sleep properly because something is waking it up [goes on to list 42 connected accessories linked by 14 daisychained USB hubs].

Imagine if Apple provided a way to completely shut down the computer so it consumed zero energy when you aren't using it, with zero chance of something waking it up.

Oh wait. They have.

Experiencing the same problems. My 14" M1 Max looses significant amounts of battery over night (30% last night), and it really sucks. I'm getting these wake requests

Code:
2022-11-17 02:19:39 +0100 Wake Requests
[*process=dasd request=SleepService deltaSecs=1022 wakeAt=2022-11-17 02:36:41 info="com.apple.dasd:0:com.apple.backupd-auto"]

"sudo pmset schedule cancelall" will not help you.
Every time you enable sleep, two power events are resceduled again:

Just look for these with the command: "pmset -g sched" and you will get something like this:

Scheduled power events:

[0] wake at 12/16/2022 16:28:44 by 'com.apple.alarm.user-visible-com.apple.CalendarNotification.EKTravelEngine.periodicRefreshTimer'

[1] wake at 12/17/2022 08:15:59 by 'com.apple.alarm.user-visible-com.apple.acmd.alarm'

Funny thing is: I do not use Calender at all. Have no contacts or events defined.
Nobody on the internet seems to know (even Apple itself) which "ghost" is scheduling these power events all the time...

I'm incredibly frustrated at this point. Nothing helps beside turning off WLAN and BT :( Sometimes it looses like 2% over night, next day it's 30. Really sucks

As per my reply a month ago just shut the f----r down when you've finished with it. They boot from 'off' to a desktop within, what, 30 seconds? I know technically it's a 'fault' but it's such a non-issue with Apple's fast SSDs.

It IS an issue! Depending on what you are doing it makes sense to sleep the machine. It is not only about the time you need to reboot, it is about starting up the whole working environment you had - let's say on the previous working day.
If you advice not using a faulty feature instead of trying to investigate or solve the problem, you do not make any progress at all and do not actually contribute to improve things...

thats not a solution when your work requires you to open a ton of applications, development environments and whatnot. It really is annoying when you were used to close the lid for the last 15 years without worrying about it :/

Ok just to make my standpoint clear, I agree it sucks that it doesn't work properly. I'm 100% not making excuses for Apple.
However...
I wouldn't dare sleep a machine with a ton of stuff open I need to be working when I wake it up again.
Not now, nor any time within the last 15 years.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be a bug that will go away any time soon.
So the options seem to be to continue to be stressed to eff over it, or adapt your workflows to suit.

I'm not sure it is actually a bug. Could be just due to some improper settings. Thus, we try to figure out.
I for myself want to know what is going on on my machine. Don't you think it is worth to know who is actually scheduling the power events causing your machine to wake up at random times? I have a desktop machine, hence do not suffer from any battery issues. However, I would like to have control what the machine does, why some processes are waking up the machine, connecting to the internet and so on...

I think the problem is more the lack of a proper deep sleep than the existing sleep mode not working. The Apple Silicon Macs simply don't have that. And I just can't figure out what cause the constant wake ups in my machine :/

What do you get from "pmset -g sched" ?

Code:

 [2] wake at 12/17/2022 11:52:22 by 'com.apple.alarm.user-visible-com.apple.acmd.alarm'

Code:
Scheduled power events:

All these so called power events will wake up your machine! Are you sure your problem is not related to these?
Was your machine doing fine in Monterey? (Mine was!)
