I own a 11" and 12.9 " Cellular 512gb. I am one to upgrade every year but I am going to sit this year out and be ready to go next year when the obvious bigger upgrade happens. What about you? I figure most M1 owners will skip this year.

For me, it doesn’t make much sense to upgrade from M1 to M2 unless one also needs a storage upgrade, cellular upgrade, a switch in size or a hand-me-down upgrade (you get the new iPad while family gets your M1 iPad).

This is the first year that I have not agonized for weeks or months on whether I should upgrade or not. It took me about 5 minutes to decide to keep my 11" M1 Pro cellular for another year.

No, I will keep my M1 12.9 for as many years as I can. I have no reason to upgrade at all, it is impeccable.

I am completely happy with my M1 iPad Pro. I do not feel the urge to upgrade to the M2 at all.

Holding on my to my 11" M1. Like others mentioned, I have no reason to upgrade to the M2.

F no. Kind of regret even going from 2018 IPP to M1
I have gone from the M1 iPP to the M2 but for my uses I see no difference. At least my cases and keyboards didn’t have to be replaced. I had originally planned to give my wife the M1 to replace her 2018 12.9 iPP but she wasn’t really interested. And again depending on your specific usage that iPP is essentially indistinguishable from the M1 or M2.

I've had lots of iPads and I generally upgrade them when they're no longer smooth and responsive. This usually happens after a few years though. My 12.9" M1 is too new to upgrade.

No for me. There is no groundbreaking improvement in the M2 version that requires an upgrade for me. The software I use doesn’t require it, and there is also the increased price in Europe that is quite painful.

I will probably upgrade when there is an upgrade in screen tech (OLED screens that can have good brightness levels for example)

my M1 is without cellular and I’ve found that I miss it, even if only occasionally. Otherwise I’m not interested…

In other words: we’ll see whether my wallet or my wants win.

Cellular option is $200 now with the latest models. I think that change snuck under the radar somehow.

not often i don't upgrade yearly for most products but this one no. will stick with my M1 12.9 pro. makes no sense as there's no difference.

Literally the only reason is for the hover Pencil support. If you don’t need that the experience is basically 100% the same. Resale value didn’t change much on the M1s so the cost to upgrade wouldn’t be ridiculous but there is just no real reason…

Still loving my 12.9” M1 but the moment they release an 11” OLED I will probably switch to that. I just can’t go back to the inferior contrast and blacks.

Not sure what the holdup is on MiniLED for the 11” but seems a little weird it still doesn’t have it.

I would gladly upgrade to either M1 or M2 12.9 1TB or even 2TB version if Apple had done anything meaningful with iPadOS and "Pro" apps availability or make Mac apps available on iPad. But, since its not what were discussing here and its not what has happened anyway, then, my answer is NO, I wont be upgrading since I see no reason to, even if I had wanted to simply upgrade to latest model it still wouldnt make much sense for me since it costs considerably more this year than last years model did when it was released, regardless of reasons.

Thanks, I did not know that! I only knew of the 129->149 change when I bought my mini5.

Yeah, Apple increased cellular iPad prices along with the LTE -> 5G switch. I think you meant the mini 6, though? Iirc, cellular premium for Air 3 and mini 5 remained at $130.

Mind, for the cellular iPad Pros, they already went from $130->150 in 2018. In 2021, they went up again from $150->200.

Is the iPad Pro screen not bright enough in your opinion? Asking out of curiosity.
