As the title states; it seems that whenever I update (really any) software on my M1 Ultra, it doesn't respond easily to the touch ID on my Apple keyboard. I always have to do a few other things; mouse clicks, move mouse, click random keys, all while keeping my finger on the reader. Then it comes to life. This odd behavior always, eventually, goes away. But it often takes days, maybe a week.

Anyone else experience this? I could see this being a little more expected, with a major OS update. But like I said, it happens with 3rd party apps. It's currently acting up right now, after updating the Maxon app a couple days ago.

Well, anything's possible. But that would seem unlikely, in that every other aspect of the keyboard works perfectly, with zero latency. And again, this weird touch ID behavior only manifests right after I update app(s). And the keyboard has a full charge, so I know it's not some kind of low-power issue.

I experience something similar to with my Studio. I think it's just my monitor taking a long time to wake up.

So, does that seem to be in conjunction with (any) software updates? Or is this a regular occurring event for you?

I just remembered I had the same problem when I had a Mac Mini hooked up to the same monitor. I had it before the Studio.

Which monitor? Mine's the (original) XDR. But again, I have a hard time imagining its the monitor, in my case, based on my primary point about software updates.

I can't see how downloading an app from the App Store would affect the keyboard.

I have found that the TouchID on my keyboard occasionally flakes out; and I have to turn it off and on again (using the little switch at the back right-hand end).

The Trackpad is similar: sometimes it goes a bit weird (e.g. the 'click' goes a bit odd), and I have to 'reboot' it.

No, actually, not the App Store; in fact, not sure that I've ever even used that on a Mac.
In this most recent case, it was an update for the Maxon App - right through that same app.
In many other cases of this issue, it's been after updating the OS.
However, I never even thought of toggling the keyboard off/on! I'll try that myself, to see if it snaps thing into shape.
